I have been collecting reports from various oils that we can use in our cars. I am a firm believer in using oil reports to understand what is going on in the engine. I have to thank BrilliantBlackHemi, RandomAccess, Quarky42 for giving me their virgin oil reports to add to mine. I have put them in this spread sheet ( Thanks RA for flipping a few things around )

Here is what I have so far :

http://www.robagd.com/cars/robs/misc/virgin-oil.gif

So if your using an oil thats not on our list, please if you can send in a clean unused sample in so we can add it to the data we are compiling. When you get your sample report drop me a PM and I'll give you an email address you can mail the PDF to.

Ok here are the links to Blackstone Labs for info on what all this means :

In our 300Cs I have been using a special synthetic formulation from BND Automotive (http://www.BNDAutomotive.com) since October. I can send some "virgin" oil in for analysis. How much is needed? PM the the info and address to me. In another 3k miles I will have the used oil available for analysis at 6k total miles.

As soon as I have 500-700 miles on the MSRT8, I plan to put in a different formulation for it, specifically blended for the performance of these vehicles. When I get that I also will send a sample.

I am not associated with BND in any way other than being a satisfied customer.

Rob,

Amsoil just came out with a 0W-20 Full Synthetic 25K/1yr oil. The spec shows the TBN to be 12.1. Took them awhile, but finally a proper oil from them for the 5.7L.

Anyone done a MOBIL1 0W40 virgin oil test?

I just sent a sample to Blackstone with 7800 miles using the AMSOIL filter (Ea042) -- anxious to get the report.

BTW, ZERO oil use by the 6.1L in 7800 mi -- I'm pleased.

(P.S. -- i would think Blackstone could supply us with a virgin oil report on M1 0W40; I'll call and ask on Monday)

No one has sent me a virgin report to add for it.

I would love someone to step up and send in some for testing. I have 2 used samples I need to send in for testing.

How about a thread called" Blackstone Labs Oil Reports - Used Oil" ???

(One of yiou guys will have to start it -- I'm not allowed to :boohoo:)

Got my report back -- looks good on the 0W40 MOBIL1 with 7800 miles.

My TBN = 3.1 (they say you're good down to 1.0)

I also asked Blackstone on the phone today if they had a run on virgin MOBIL1 0W40 --
he said "yes" I said can I get it? He said "No" -- all reports are proprietary to the customer who sent the sample.

Next oil change I am going to run Redline Racing oil since i have heard some praise on it. I will send it a test and post back. Probably in the next month.

This was a very good idea! I always try and get the best oil and read up on different oils as well. I will keep a close eye on this.

If you are looking for VOA (Virgin Oil Analysis) there is a ton of them over here (http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=11&page=1). There is also a ton of good info on that website about oil.
