I bought my black R/T Magnum about 2 weeks ago. I have been trying to get a deal on some black headlights. I asked the dealer if they would swap them with the headlights from a model on the lot....they said sure!!! No cost but the techs time!!!
Going in on Wed.

lucky!
It's actually illegal to do that from a new car. If the car isn't sold exactly as stated on the sticker it's fraud (unless you pay for additional accessories).
I tried to do that with my dealer and was told ^^^^

Did they tell ya how much for the install? When I did mine it took about an hour. Don't let them charge you for 3 or 4 hours!

I am sure it will only be like an hr...maybe 1.5....plus I am getting other work done.

Yeah, not long, seeing as we don't remove the fascia. The stealer might!

Awesome deal. They can put the new headlights on the right side of the sticker if they really wanna be anal about it.

Your pretty quick! I didn't remove the fascia, but you have to be real careful not to knick or scratch it when moving it enough to get the lights out or in.

Yup, I use 2" painters masking tape and lay about 3-4 strips under the lamp, 2 to the inside, and 1-2 up the fender to keep scratches away.

Thats a great deal, had the Jeep dealer do that with my Grand Cherokee, swapped my donut spare for a matching full size spare and even got me the cargo hatch privacy cover. Only cost me $100 for everything.
Hopefully they are still cool with that type of stuff when I get the Magnum!!

For anti-scratching when moving parts around, there's a tape I used to use when I did live concert production. It's a bit pricey (about $17 a roll), but that's cheaper than paint work! We use it all the time now at the Harley dealer now that I've turned them onto the stuff. It's called Gaffers' tape, the main brand we used was Permacel but there's other brands out there as well - permacel was the best, but the most expensive too.
Its like duct tape...but better (I know, hard to believe!). No residue, nice and thick so no scratching, I used to use it for everything from attaching cabling to overhead trusses to tacking microphone wires to the stage so nobody tripped on 'em. Nice and thick, tears easy...awesome stuff. Tear yourself an inch under a screw, tack it down, it will NOT move, the screwdriver won't slide it out of the way, and you can peel it off easier than painters tape when you're done. I keep a case of it right next to the case of Brak-Leen in the garage :)
Sorry for the hijack..the mention of painters tape above made me think of it.

Does the sticker actually say black or clear headlights?
I think it's how bad the dealer wants to make a deal and what he is willing to do for it .
Its a visual taste thing, not like you were asking for 6-months payments or somthing like that!
What do they have to lose except a deal if thats what you want!
Too many people think that all stuff is written in stone but the custimer
can always go to the next store!
