I have stock 215/65 R17 tires. I plan on changing out the rear tires for these:
235/60TR17 Kumho Solus KH16 Blackwall
They are $75 each on Tirerack.com
What do you all think? They are not quite an inch wider than stock.

The replacements are also a little taller than original, but nothing to be concerned about. Looks pretty good for a 3 season tire.

Yeah, that's as close as I could get. Hopefully the speedo won't be off by much.

Speedometer Difference: 1.466% too fast on the new size.
www.1010tire.com (http://www.1010tire.com)
old tire 60 mph
new tire 60.8 mph

1.25mm difference equals 1.466% too fast?
65% of 215 = 139.75
60% of 235 = 141
141 - 139.75 = 1.25
From http://www.101tire.com
Actual Speed:60 mph Speedometer1: 59.7 mph
That's pretty close.

I think he missed the 215 to 235 change. If you just changed aspect ratio it'd be too 'fast'. As you enlarge tire diameter, it'll go to too 'slow'.
Your car will be going minutely slower than your speedo says.

I think you are right. Thanks. I'm amazed how much of a price range there is on tires. These are pretty cheap at $75 each. If they don't last oh well. I will just buy new again.

0.351% too slow is the new calculation. It's based on Revolutions Per Mile rather than size change. Anything up to 3% is allowed (recommended before reprogramming needed).
