1. Should I put in an order or wait until the Plum Crazy comes out and hope they come down in price?
2. Should I keep the chrome clad wheels on the PC or should I swap them for the ones I have now?
3. Should I cough up the $1,800 for the nav or get an aftermarket?
4. If I do get aftermarket, what is the best nav system for the money?
Ok, I think that's it for now. http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

My only advise is for #3.
Instead of the $1800 as a dealer option, you could always forego that option and pick one up used. I see the factory Nav unit on Ebay for $700 to $900 al lthe time.

1.You could shop around in neighboring states to find a better place to place an order. That way you'd be getting a deal, AND getting it first... just make sure there aren't any front plate holes. :)
2.I really like the pseudo SRT wheels.!
^^^ what RT said for #3. The stock serves its purpose relatively well but you could get it cheaper.

For what it's worth...
1. Should I put in an order or wait until the Plum Crazy comes out and hope they come down in price?
IMHO, bad enough to take the hit on a new car (which I've now done twice), no need to screw yourself further by getting gouged. There are still top banana's and go mango's on lots that are being practically given away now. My vote is to wait about three months after release.
2. Should I keep the chrome clad wheels on the PC or should I swap them for the ones I have now?
I think black wheels would look stellar on that car myself. Those stockers are puuuurdy though!
3. Should I cough up the $1,800 for the nav or get an aftermarket?
I don't think aftermarket is the way to go personally... yes, some have more features, but they're not integrated as well into the rest of the car. I'm with the others though, I picked one up brand new w/ antenna, newest DVD and revised joystick under $1,000 and that was eight months ago now.
4. If I do get aftermarket, what is the best nav system for the money?
^^ See above

You could give me your wheels when youget option #1!!!
for #3, i picked up a Mio Digiwalker portable. it works great as an in-car nav, and i can take it out of the car and put it in pedestrian mode and use it for geo-caching, hiking, etc. best part, it was under $200. im in the process of modifying an overhead console i picked up from a member here so that i can keep the unit in the glasses foldout, where it will have power for recharging the battery. save your money for more worthy projects!

Well, all I can tell you, is if I EVER buy a new car again, it will come from Steve White. I have looked all around, and no one I've seen can beat his prices.

1) Just order the damn thing. Just get your HEMI already!!!
2) Put your factory SXT wheels back on your car and keep the fancy ones just incase you want to change them later. If you don't have them anymore. You can always get them cheaper then buying a new set of 20's or 22's.
3) I can get you a sweet deal on the NEW Pioneer AVIC-D3 if you want to get one in the future. Just get the factory unit now and you can always sell it on this site and get the money for the Pioneer unit when you are ready to change it out.
4) Pioneer AVIC-D3

1)can you wait, hahah I know I couldnt,
2) im no help there
3) If you do swap out, not sure on this but ask in the A/V section, I thing that the NAV units only came with the 6 speaker amp'd system. If you get a base system (4 speaker) it wont work. Personally I would go with a base system, less headaches when upgrading to amps, if that is even what you are going to do later?
4) I personally dont do NAV, too much of a luxury haah. I either google map or paper map.

The NAV and amp ? is a good one that I want to know for my own personal info, I'm going to start a thread on it in the A/V.

1) Just order the damn thing. Just get your HEMI already!!! I'm working on that right now! I called the dealer in NC and he's going to call me when they come in.
2) Put your factory SXT wheels back on your car and keep the fancy ones just incase you want to change them later. If you don't have them anymore. You can always get them cheaper then buying a new set of 20's or 22's. I don't have the original wheels anymore. Guess I'll wait to see what the chrome clads look like in person.
3) I can get you a sweet deal on the NEW Pioneer AVIC-D3 if you want to get one in the future. Just get the factory unit now and you can always sell it on this site and get the money for the Pioneer unit when you are ready to change it out. Why should I get the nav and then switch it out? Shouldn't I just not get it and add the Pioneer? And how much are we talkin' here?
4) Pioneer AVIC-D3 And thanks. Sometimes you can be nice when you want to be. :)

2) Why didn't you keep the factory wheels... well I guess you live and learn. DUH!!! I guess it is true... you are never to old to learn something new... :)
3) This will help you learn about using a NAV and then you might not want to change it. The Pioneer unit has a tons of bells and whistles on it and since I live in Cali and you do not. I will not be able to teach you about it EVERY DAY!!! LOL
3a) The price... the retail price of the unit is $1000.00 but you know that I can do a lot better than that when they come out. They are looking like March time for the unit. I can also get you a Clarion MAX675VD and the NAX970HD for a good price as well...
Yes I know but please don't spread that around... :)

I agree with Noid's answers.
The second half of the car's name fits you perfectly.
Please take it easy with your new car. It's a lot of power. Oh, and once you get your PC I won't be able to drag race with you anymore cause I won't be able to keep up.

Chris,
As far as the original wheels/tires - I have 2 sets of 4 that I would sell you cheap. One other piece of advice. When you order the Daytona, sell your car before it comes in, because you will get a much better deal that way.

1. Should I put in an order or wait until the Plum Crazy comes out and hope they come down in price? What Noid said, provided you can get it for sticker or better. The east coast dealers are killer. I would have bought one from an SC dealer if laws here in the People's Republic weren't in the way.
2. Should I keep the chrome clad wheels on the PC or should I swap them for the ones I have now?I am a dyed-in-the-wool 5-spoke guy so 3 guesses what my answer is on this one. Too bad they are not the satin alloy but -- as long as they are the forged alloy underneath -- take 'em cuz they're good wheels made well.
3. Should I cough up the $1,800 for the nav or get an aftermarket? Under no circumstances buy the factory nav! Put simply... it sucks compared to aftermarket units. At least it sure does to mine, which ...
Has 6 million points of interest vs. 2 million for the factory unit. POI's are big stuff for your nav. 6 million means more gas stations, more bank ATM's, restaurants, hotels, furniture stores, airports ... whatever. The extra depth is amazing when you see it vs. what a factory unit shows you.
...
Has an elevated, angled view. Shows you the road as you are driving it if you are, say, 100 ft in the air. Everyone who has seen that has remarked on it as being really helpful.
...
Speaks your directions, including street names. "In 500 feet turn right on Charger Boulevard". So even if you aren't looking at the screen, you hear where it is you need to go and can read the street signs as a backup.
...
Works if you are driving the car (you have to change a one-time setting and acknowledge that you want to die and will not sue the gps mfr).
Does the factory nav have detour support? Multi-destination routes (waypoints)? so you can plan a trip with stops for gas if you want? Will it add a gas stop mid-trip? Dunno about that stuff.
...
Can you take it out of the car if you are hopping a plane and going cross-country to BF Alaska, where you can plop it into your rental and instantly know where everything is, including those restaurants, ATMs and so on? Mine has been a real lifesaver on that score. Taking a trip somewhere is a whole new experience when you can just drive straight to everything you might want to visit, like an Office Depot, or a Starbucks or a pharmacy or something.
I have a Garmin 2830 and it does all that. Plus it has XM radio and support for urban re-routing in case of traffic jams. If you live in an urban area that has support for traffic reporting its another lifesaver. If you don't, don't blow the money on the 2830. The 2720 gives you everything but XM and traffic (the XM is a waste no matter what). A 2720 should be around $550 at a rock-bottom internet retailer.

As for portable Navi... you may want to look at this device... I seen it at CES and it was AWESOME!!!! It gives you the best of both worlds!!!

To address Matt's questions above:
Does the factory nav have detour support? Yes!
2 buttons and a click.
Multi-destination routes (waypoints)? so you can plan a trip with stops for gas if you want?
Umm... Not that I know of, so I'm gonna say No.
Will it add a gas stop mid-trip? Nope.
It gives you total miles & miles/time until destination is reached. I guess it figures you are smart enough to figure that out by looking at the fuel gauge and planning a stop.
However - it figures that you're NOT talented enough to multi task, so don't do it on the fly :loser: ...
...and support for urban re-routing in case of traffic jams.
Yes on that. "detour support" with options
Personally I love the clean look of my factory Nav. No regrets on getting it with my car. You can't go wrong in getting it with your new PC Daytona Charger!
But all the things Matt is listing, the travel component of it alone makes me think; unless DCX changes things (like on the fly) I'll go aftermarket.
Oh and PS: Get the rims! They look great, well made, factory warranted and if you really want something different, you will have no problem getting rid of chromed 20” Dodge rims!!

Just a heads up, while I havent seen the chrome clad wheels, my 05 Ram has the chrome clad plastic 20" wheels and there pretty damned good. They have held up perfectly, better than the stock aluminums on my RT Magnum. I know plastic sounds bad, but Dodge has done a nice job on them. They look hot on that Plum Crazy Daytona!:thumbs_u:
