hello folks,

well i decided to do 1 mod a month, my first is going to be the mopar (borla) dual cat backs on my 3.5L sxt magnum. i can get them for $695. plus labour rate and bodyshop wants $40.00 to put in the extra cut out for the other exhaust. has anyone actually put these on there SXT ? and if so what performance did you gain?

the reason i ask if not much increase, should i instead do the CAI ? i was thinking of doing the CAI next month.

heres my list

dec.06 - catback exahust
jan. 07- CAI
feb.07- superchip
march.07 - mag wheels 20" with 255/45 rear 245/45 front.

what are you thoughts?

thanks in advance/

The dual exhaust is a far better option than the CAI. You will see more performance and better sound from the exhaust. In my opinion, theres too much hype on a CAI esp since we're talking a 3.5L. Too much money for too little gain with a CAI. You wont go wrong with the exhaust. Why not do the cut out yourself? Its only a plastic facia and will cut easily with a dremel tool. Make a template of the opposite side (i have one waiting to use when i do mine) easy peasy :)

Btw... thats a hell of a price for Borla!!!! Yous hure thats not a single exhaust price...wow!!

The Mopar dual exhaust is great! I love my kit. $695 is pretty sttep for this kit though, even in CDN currency. I got mine for $349 US... Unless the cost is so high because of customs taxes.

One thing I wanted to mention though is that there is no Superchip programer for the V6. There are other tuning options like the Jet chip and the new B&G flash.

I put that system in my SXT over the summer using ramps in my driveway. (Got it for $350 US) It's not too hard. the worst part was getting the original system out! They supplied a template to make the cutout, and bezels to cover the cutout edges on both sides. I'm guessing that the extra $40 is for that kit. To answer your question, I haven't noticed any major performance gain (or loss) but I may have picked up about 1 MPG. Main reason I did it was for the sound quality, and you will definitely notice that! Good luck with the mods!

Agreed, and the exhaust gives a gain across the tq curve, the CAI's benefits don't really show up until near redline.

I got it from Mopar Supercenter. They had a group buy back in August and the price was too good to pass up. Part number for the kit was 82209611. I don't have the number for the bezels handy, but I'll try to find it tonight.
