Hey Guys,

Don't know much about cars, so bear with me...

Would there be any issues putting 225/60R17 tires to replace 215/65/17?

Thanks!

Don't ever be embarrassed to ask a question. Were all here to help each other out and have fun. Welcome to the forum! :beerchug:

Thanks guys!

I also found another calculator here:

Multiple tires can be checked simultaneously!

One other thing, Shenanigan, you want to stay within 3% of the stock tire diameter when switching to another size tire. These calculators will help you with that.

Actually, you want to maintain less than 3% difference between your tires... so if you run a staggered setup you have to choose accordingly. You can change all four of them to any diameter you want, you'll just have to have your car recalibrated to know the difference (via starscan) or live with your speedo/odometer being off.

I took 215/55 17 off and put 245/55 18 on. Big difference. I took it to the dealer to reset speedo but the largest they could set for was 235.

The scariest thing was when I noticed the top ball joint stud only had about 1/4" clearence from the top of the tire. So far all is fine.

Mine's closer than that with 255/55-18 KDW2's.. :)

I always wondered what speed would expand the tire enough to touch. Or is this a concern?

I love how these forums start off with a specific question/subject, but then veers off into a totally different - but quite informative - direction.

I LOVE IT! LOL

Heh, good attitude Shenanigan, sometimes the off-shoots are more informative than the first question. Just my $.02...running 255-55-18 KDW2's and NO rubbing or contact with any suspension parts under any circumstances I have encountered (including some way-too-much-fun hard driving just to see what the beast can do).
