Looking at a "scheme" to get me an SRT8 which involves keeping the RT but handing it down to a 17 year old
(and trading a late model crew cab which he's driving)--

this would minimize the potential losses on trading the RT.

QUESTION: Will the insurance company treat the Mag RT as an SUV even with a 17 yr old driver??

(I would ask my ins. company, but today is Saturday)

What can I expect?

The car's category is set by the manufacturers and the insurance companies. The Mag is deemed a "truck" due to emissions standards and DCX finagling. I do not believe that the age of the driver makes a difference. BUT the price would be a lot higher for a young driver than an adult.

I live in PA and my Mag is listed as a Station Wagon (SW). Same as a van, that way I don't have the higher registration cost of a truck.

Actually the truck is a 300HP 4 wheel drive, and Mag is 340 HP 2WD -- maybe insurance will go down??? (Don't I wish)

4WD's exact a premium from my experience.

It probably will depend on state and insurance company. In Michigan with Allstate my Magnum is classed as a van. It cost only a little more to insure than the 1996 Concorde that it replaced. Check with your agent and he/she should get you the best deal since otherwise you could take your business elsewhere.
