Externally yes, internally no... They would look like solid black rims in a day or two....
Cleaning would be a b*tch (b*@tch) you would have to get to the inside somehow...

I agree, they look nice. But, not too practical. Trying to keep them clean on the inside would be a nighmare!

That's pretty sweet... polycarbonate scratches pretty easily though. You'd have a hard time keeping those brembo's cool with a solid sheet of plastic over them.

The wheel is the brainchild of Doug McGoon. He is a first time exhibitor for D'Vinci's, Forgiato line of wheels. He won 11 International New Product Awards at the SEMA show this year.
Seeing this wheel in person just stops people dead in there tracks. It was hard to even get a picture of them, I had to be quick and the pics came out a little blurred.

I will say that this wheel should only be used on a show queen car. To properly clean them you would have to remove each wheel to get at the entire back side. TommyZ and I were thinking the same thing about the scratching of the polycarbonate. At $2K a wheel, to pretect the investment have each side of the poly covered in the clear bra film. Then when the film shows scratches, replace the film with new film.

Honestly this wheel looks far better on a bike and would be much easier to clean as well.

Ehhhhh...noooo..
I want a wheel I can use everyday without fear.. you know some jackasshat would come by with a boxcutter and tag them just to see if they could...

I wonder what temperature range those are good for. Between cold mornings and brake heat, they'd have to put up with quite a difference.

yea, i saw those as SEMA as well, until i read this post i thought they were just showing off the Brembos, i didnt realize it was a functioning wheel. i do have to say, that most poly carbonates are pound for pound stronger that steel or aluminum alloy, so unless they were adversely affected by constant temp. changes they should hold up fine functionally speaking. plus you could engrave all kinds of stuff in them and then through a light behind it and make them glow. novel idea, not my choice but gotta give the guy credit, he was certainly thinking outside the box and i commend him for that. these kind of ideas is what keeps the human race moving forward. weather they make it to the market place is a different story though.

No. You would have to use water and wipe it off with a cotton cloth. Clear plastics are really prone to scratches.

Ain't that the truth! I still think about going to black wheels just so they don't look as terrible all the time!
