Mods Face Off Result: GSM Intake
This test consisted of testing the GSM Intake on a completely stock 2005 300C and an extensively modified 2005 300C at the Mods Face Off 5 (MFO5).
Mod Tested: GSM Intake
Date: 10/12/06 - 10/13/06
Dyno Location: SVS R&D, Sacramento CA

The Good:
There seems to be a slight increase of "up the curve" performance
The design of this intake is unique; it draws air from the lower cavity and away from the engine thus (in theory) netting cooler air more often. The Bad:
No significant gains in torque or horsepower were realized on either 5.7L
The unique design of this intake requires drawing air along a much longer path than other's we've tested. The manometer reading went off the scale when applied to this intake; although no performance drop was indicated (implying there is a point in which the negative "suck" factor has a ceiling)*NOTE: We did test this intake on an SRT8, however we had no baseline for comparison purposes. The only other intake we tested on the SRT8 was the AirHammer; see those results here (http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=43246).
Also, the design of this thing really lends itself to track performance and not dyno performance (GSM's description, and I share the opinion). This design is unique in that it draws from the area below and behind the driver side headlight. Again, we had this at the track on an SRT8 that pulled 13.3s, however we did not have another intake to test on the SRT8 for comparison purposes.
Interesting to note that the GSM pulled water off the manometer's scale (meaning the engine was sucking REALLY hard, especially when compared to other intakes that ranged 1.2-5.5". This *should* directly relate to performance (the harder the engine has to suck, the harder its working, the less power applied to the rear wheels).

The Graphs:
These two pulls closely follow the averages for the entire set. This is average vs average, not worst vs best.
