Anyone else seen the " '06 Challenger Concept' " RC cars at wal-mart?

They're 1:10 scale, or so. One of them comes with two bodies - a 1970 Challenger and the new concept.

Unfortunately, they look like ass.

You must be a Hot wheel Collector.
My Father in -law is one hard core. I'll have a few of these once they come out, he knows were getting one( a real one that is). When the 300rds come out he just ketp giving me 300. I gave them away to the kids at the IL meets.

These macro pics are probably 3-4 times actual size so you will see the exagerated metaflake detail.

No I don't work for Mattel. Just a member of their Redline club, mainly collecting their high-end diecast from their web site. Too many fanatics out there who think the retail stuff is worth $$$ so I don't bother with it (other than some Ferrari's and the odd muscle car like this Challenger  ).

Since the new Challenger is actually a 2008, they made a mistake that could make that hot wheel a collectible.

The purple one should actually be a 1970 Challenger, which also comes in green and orange. I haven't heard of a purple concept Challenger out just yet.

Hubby works for Mattel...but that doesn't mean he knows all the projects going on. They surprise the hell out of him sometimes - oh, has anyone seen the navy blue Magnum at Walmart (1/64 I guess) on those outlandish lifted wheels --- talk about an abomination (of course I bought one)...

We have like 20 of these things between Josh and myself. I usually keep a bunch of LX hotwheels cars in my Magnum to give to kids who come up and ask me about my car.

So far...the 1:64 mainline HW Challenger Concept has been released in 3 variations...

orange with pr-5 wheels,green with 5s wheels,and green with pr-5 wheels.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/dcfox/c1.jpg

Mattel also just released this one in their Hot Wheels G-Machines line(slightly larger...approx 1:50 scale). This one is also supposed to be released in green.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/dcfox/c2.jpg

Here's a comparison pic to show the size difference between the 1:64 HW and the G-Machine...

Nice! gotta start making the rounds again. So far, all I ever found was the orange 1:64 some time ago and nothing else in any variation since. Thanks for the update!

I got one the other day. I'm curious what the stuff printed on the blistercard means.

Such as the top right corner has the 01 36 and the bottom right corner has 001/156.

Can anyone decipher these numbers?

1/36 means it's #1 of 36 First Editions series. This is the line of the brand new castings.

1/156 means it's collector #1 of a total of 156 various cars (old and new) for 2007. (I think, but there's usually 250 or more in a model year; I'll confirm and edit what's the deal for this year).

Yup, 156 total cars for 2007. That's a 'short' card (package) for the European market that you got there. The U.S. gets a total of 180 cars for 2007 so if you get the regular U.S. 'long' card, it will say 1/180. There's a Canadian long card version too and Canada only get 156 cars this year as well. This year, the U.S. cards will also say '2007 New Models' instead of 'First Editions'.

I know it won't make me a millionaire, but I'm having second thoughts about taking it out of the package and placing it next to my Maisto Magnums.

That Challenger is a regular released car...and will never be worth much more than a buck...due to the high #'s produced.
Card variations don't usually make much of a difference in value...other than the fact that "most" collectors prefer them on a long card.
I'd say open it up and put it with the others.
I open 99.9% of my diecast cars. It's much more enjoyable to be able to look at them free and not trapped in a plastic bubble.

HW and Matchbox do a few Magnums, plus Chargers, 300s and Challengers that aren't blinged out. Here's what to look for:

http://carrollclan.com/lx/magnum_1.jpg

Technically, the red and black Magnums below aren't HW or Matchbox. I found 'em in Wal-Mart, though in small boxes that sit on the shelf rather than hang on a hook.

Magnum police cars now come in two colors:
