Following my lovely wife home last night and we come to a stop light. She is driving the Magnum RT and I am behind her in the Alero. Just sitting there when all of a sudden I see her rolling back so I lay on the horn to no avail...BOOOM. She rolls back into me!! I then layed on the horn 3 more times and she didnt move...just kept sitting there bumper to bumper. Finally she pulls fwd and I see the damage. Nice indention and puncture of the rear bumper right below the license plate holder.
So, anyone know of a good place here in the Dallas area to get the bumper fixed or replaced?? Inferno Red Magnum.

Let her drive the Alero. Should be good for a few extra mods.

I have a spare Inferno Red rear bumper but I am in NC. Shipping may be high.

With any luck you'll be able to find an Inferno Red rear bumper cover in a salvage yard, and then it's an easy swap. (I hear that those Inferno Red drivers tend to run into things head-on.)

You can get a brand new fascia from MPSC for $240 or less, shipping isn't as bad as I thought it would be, about $30 from NC to KS. Dealer list is $299
Either way it has to be painted.

Yeah, $300 unpainted. You're looking at $500+. Why in neutral, it's a friggin' automatic? Why couldn't she hear the horn? Why couldn't she feel the impact? Dude, you have bigger issues with yer ol' lady than this "accident". Which bar were you following her home from? My wife knows better than to park too close in the garage to my Magnum so I can get the garbage cans out to the curb without touching either car and she wears a 100mg Morphine patch to ease the pain of her cancer surgery. She's loopier every morning than I can hope to get all day at a sports bar!Hope you get yer car fixed up OK. If you have a $500 deductible this one is gonna be your nut all the way.

I'd say you have a few "treats" coming.

So it sounds like the entire bumper cover can be replaced. Is that the only way to fix it? Also, if I order one it will need to be painted to match I'm guessing.
As to why this happened...not sure. It was a long light so we both put the cars in N to save a bit of fuel at idle. And we live in a very flat part of Texas so I guess she thought it wouldnt roll...she was wrong.

Sure....That is not going to save fuel. What clown told you this? You would have turn your car off to save any fuel. It saves fuel to turn your car off if it is idling for more than 15 seconds. (we have idle natzis around here handing out info at drive thru's. Still there is no way I will be turning off my car if it idles for more than 15 seconds.

I'll bet the back of your hand or your foot up her --- would phase her. :blam: Just kidding. :) I'd never condone smacking your old lady around; even if she did deserve it.

lol :)
get the pre-painted bumper cover from MyRT, it would save a lot of problems with matching the paint.
MyRT, you dont happen to have a front drivers side fender do you?

Sorry to hear about the misfortune McKinneyMagnum. I predict defensive driving in the significant others future... j/k LOL.
I know a stretch-n-dent place in Wiley. Looks like it’s established you need the fascia and paint. If you would like a hand let me know I would enjoy learning how the fascia comes off.
Isn’t there a write up (thread) on removing the front fascia?

Ratman had a video of when he installed his cop bars (don't know what else to call them). He had to remove the fascia for that.

Thanks MangoInTX...it's our rear bumper that is dinged up :( I am going to take it around to a few places to get some ballpark prices. Do you have contact info for that place in Wylie??

No problem!
Are our bumpers 'fixable' or does it just have to be entirely replaced?
Anyone know??
