I'd like to replace my stock 17 " wheels on the 2005 Magnum SXT.

I'd love chrome, but am looking for a year round wheel that will tolerate the New England winter snow and salt.

The car is brand new with Continental self sealing tires, so I'm not inclined to replace the tires yet.

I've seen some black wheels and am trying to envision black wheels against the gray paint.

Any have any suggestion or images of wheels they use year round up here in the Northeast?

Get custom wheels for the summer and put snows on your stock wheels for winter!

Saftey third!

I'm with you... might try to ride my bald conti's through the winter just so i don't put new wheels on right before salt season. my other ride is a total pile, so i'd rather not garage the mag for three months... i'd go into withdrawal or something. one option would be to wash it... like every time you drove it. if you'll be doing sparse driving over the winter you could fill up a bucket with hot water and throw it at your wheels when you got home. yeah, it'd freeze on there, but that's a lot better for them than the salt. to date i've not seen a good solution for this problem. i was told that you can wax the hell outta them every couple weeks and that would help... i also saw somebody with some nasty goopy sticky oily stuff sprayed on them... looked HORRIBLE, but supposedly completely seals them for a couple months and cleans off with some soap and some elbow grease.

I hear ya. I use the Mag as my every day car, so I'd have to have a water tank and hose in the cargo area to keep the wheels clean.

I know that painted wheels and alloy wheels are an option because that's what the factory sends out. That's why I was looking at the black wheels and wanted to know what other are doing, other than two sets of tires

Try www.ronalusa (http://www.ronalusa)...

They have had monthly specials and they have painted alloys for the Magnum, Charger and 300C

Don't assume painted wheels will look good after a winter of sandblasting and salt. I would use factory wheels in the winter and next spring go for some nice alloys. Contis are fair in the winter. Put 2 50 lb sandbags under rear floor, traction will be ok, some good snow tires on all four and you have a tank, especially with ESP. My RT wheels still look new after 2 Maine winters.

Thanks. I was up in Ogunquit a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful.

I had alloys on my 99 Ram, and they seemed to fare well throght the weather.

I was told by the dealer that RWD with ESP would work well in the winter. Should I put the 100 pounds in the spare tire well??

I have my 20" for summer and kept my SXT wheels with mounted snow tires for winter. So i can go skiing and trips to Montana.

From the salty roads of Nova Scotia!

Undercoating from new is a plus, there are a lot of options out there (rustcheck etc)

For the wheels a coat of vaseline will protect the rims from salt for the winter and will clean off ok in ths spring!

Wash when the weather allows but if you freeze the wheels to the ground the salt won't get on them either!

I didn't think undercaoting was neceaasry with new cars any more
