Lookin' good. I guess they are a little smaller than stock? I think I'd rather have a little larger than stock.

Bet you will like em! I drove a set of those babys 40,000 hard miles and they stuck like freakin glue. You won't believe the wet traction! I replaced with the Comfortreads. I miss my BFG's, waaa The reviews in the tire rack are a bit skewed because these babys work great on a heavy car with lots of power, the comfortreads are more for the put put down to the 7-11 crowd.

Wonder if I should take offense or what? j/k.
I had the Comfortreds and loved them. Road great, just didn't hook at the track enough. The Goodyear RSAs on my SRT8 are good so far, but I haven't had them out in bad rain or snow yet. In due time....

They're just about dead-on as far as size.

And where did that handy chart come from? is there more? like 20's and 22's? I'm guessing it's probably here somewhere and I just haven't found it yet.

In due time.... He he. Your exempt from that comment, however I am envious of your new SRT8. Life is good for you! BFG's do have outstanding traction, however especially in the wet. If they make a replacement for your car, I think you would like them. My friend with a Jeep SRT8 hated his RSA's. Be careful in the rain.

Those are the same ones that I swtched on my both C's a couple of weeks ago. They stick and specially this time of the year here with a lot of rain.
They are Traction AA Temperature A, ZR speed rating with 103W load rating. Handle very well our 2 tons LX's. :racing:

Those figures are a tad misleading. The actual diameter changes a small bit based on the manufacturer. This is one of the reasons why I started the following thread on tires to list the actual differences:
http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=36671
Given the specs by the manufacturers, the BFG tire (28.5" dia) is .5" taller than the Conti (28" dia).
That being said, I am considering this tire and want to hear about your experiences.

Sweet. I'd rather have it a little taller than a little smaller if I have to go one direction or the other!
67Alecto, Thanks for the chart and info! I think I may just go with these shoes after I finish tearing up the Contis.

I was considering the KDW2's but ruled them out because of the poor rain / snow ratings. Great dry tire, but with my wife needing to rely on out Mag in the snow I just can't bring myself to take that gamble. The KDWS's seem like a good compromise in terms of wet / dry performance...

I can say from personal experience that these tires are very good for the RT mag/300C. My work partner just put them on because I have had great luck with a set of those on another car. His car just improved 100%. Much more traction, much smoother, quiet on the highway and should wear twice as well as the stock craptinentals. You will not be disappointed with your purchase! On a side note, I am loving my Toyo Proxes 4 in a 275 40/20 on all four corners of my SRT8... Tomi

Hey 67alecto - did you put 'em on yet???
I have been sick as a dog - felt better on Sunday, but the place was closed. Ended up in urgent care yesterday, and am taking the day off today to let the antibiotics kick in.
They're still in the garage, so I'll get them on this weekend after doing some burnouts.

I think you're thinking of the BFG KDW NTs or whatever (the ones that aren't all-season). They come in 255/55/18 and are 29.04" tall (compared to the continental at 28.62).

I love them too. I got them mid-year when my crapinentals wore out right around the 21k mark they down the to wear bars.
These KDWS have a cold thump for the first few miles, but that goes away very fast.
I've had them on for a few thousand miles and had them inspected. Tehy are showing good wear...even wear.
I have been keeping them at between 36 and 37 PSI. (Mind you, I'm in the desert... our winters are chilly...not cold.)
We get down to freezing or below at night and in the day time can see 50, 60, even 70 degrees in the middle of winter. Today it's not going to get that warm, but that's a lot warmer than way up north... so you may have to run your tires differently up there. I'll be visiting snow for a few days and hopefully I'll find a wide open stretch where I can play a little bit and get a feel for how these tires do in the snow.
So far their Dry/Wet/Cold traction has been AWESOME. Now to throw a little snow/ice into the mixture. Dunno if I'll have a chance to play. Hope so.

for everyone talking about the continental tire being 28" overall diameter its not true, its a typo on the conti site, if you go look at their website they are supposed to have made the correction, but since everyone got their info from conti before the correction was made everyone still has the mis. info. about them being 28" they are not, they are closer to 28.48"

KDW= dry/wet traction, KDWS=dry/wet/snow. Some of us need the snow rated tires.

Well, at 24,000 my tires were getting pretty worn, time for a change so for the heck of it, I called Continental to check on the prorate. They sent me to Sears to get inspected. The rep there measured them and called Continental. Continental offered me a really good per tire discount on the same tire new. However, after reading the forum I had decided already on the BFG's on which I could not get that discount but after I mentioned to the Sears rep that I would get the BFG's from Tire Rack, he told me that he would match the Tire Rack price if I would bring a printout of the 'shipped to' order. So, since Sears locally would be easier to deal with than internet Tire Rack in case of a problem, I had Sears order them and should have them on next week. The 'aggressive' tread is on the newer G-force I was told.

As I recently posted, I replaced my originals with the BFG's. For anyone thinking of doing the same, be aware that the new 'aggressive' tread does not come in the 245 size. I had to send mine back and get the 255's for that new tread design.

Are there any pictures of the new KDWS tread design? I can't seem to find anything on BFG's site or tire rack.

It's a little late now, but thanks!
The KDWS, even with the (apparantly) old, or "less aggressive" tread design, ranked among the best for overall D, W & S driving conditions - I gotta believe they're going to better than the Contis...

If I lived where it snowed more than once a year (this morning) I would get the "S"
The KDW Flame tread I have are great, almost 40K miles including Willow Springs, trips to the 1/4 mile track, burnouts, and balls out cornering whenever I get the chance.
I measured the actual height on the car, 28.5" That's what I put in the SC tuner also.
So, Bipto?? You stuck in the snow somewhere??

These look like the KDW2. Why do people always do the apples to oranges comparison. Many of us need the "S" tires as we have snow to consider. Please stop confusing people with these "aggressive" tread pattern references. In my opinion, the KDWS must have a more aggressive tread pattern to be able to handle snow, since the KDW or KDW2 can't.
This thread was about the KDWS not KDW2. At least call them KDW2 instead, so people can figure out that there are not 2 tread patterns for KDWS.
BTW, the 245 size is still available in the KDWS. I have these on my care and the ride is great. I hven't had them out in the snow yet, but I think they will be btter than the OEMs based off of the performance difference they have given me on other cars.

I've had them (KDWS) on for just over a year now. I guess about 16K miles. I didn't even get 15K on the Contis. These look like they might go another 10-12K. I guess I'm hard on tires, or else we have rough pavement around here. I thought at first they were a bit noisier on the highway, but I got used to it. They do grip really well, but they're starting to spin under hard acceleration. This was before my engine mods. That just made it worse. I'd buy them again.

I am torn between 255/55/18's and 245/55/18's. I like a fuller tire and less wheel well gaps. I would like comfort over performance and I definitely want something wider then the crapinentals. I don't mind the extra slight weight increase vs. a smaller tire. I don't want to screw with my speedo too bad even if it makes it slower by about a 1 mph difference. I like the fact the stockers are pretty quiet and the ride is good considering I drive like a a grandma admittably in my relatively moderate traffic commute. I want a stickier tire that will go at least 30k with moderately aggressive driving habits. i don't plan to drag and I am mostly stock and get snow occassionally in CT. I like what I hear from the KDWS crowd but that forces my hand to a 245 width. What should I do?

I couldn't be happier with the 245's. Though almost an exactly the same height and only wider by .8", they look notably bigger than the Contis on the car. And because they're the same height, the speedo is dead-balls on.
If you must go with a 255 though, it looks as though you have plenty of choices...
