Mark your calendars! 6 - 9 p.m Saturday Sept. 9th. It'll be here before you know it.

Going to try once again to get a group together and do this.

If there's enough interest I'll host a M&G (possible BBQ) at my house then a group drive from there to TMS.

More details to follow.

I know you're probably not going to believe me, (given my miserable track record) but I'll try to take a couple days vacation and come on up there. Can you reccomend a nice, cheap place to stay for 2 nights?

There are all sorts of hotels close to the track. How cheap do you want to go?

Just checked my schedule (twice, I get so confused) and I don't work that Saturday. I'd like to be counted in.

I checked the leave schedule and 2 people are off that week, so I'm SOL. Maybe next time.

The deal is if you can get about 8 cars to show up you can talk them into putting your group on the track at the 1st of a group. That way your right behind the pace truck and you can push the pace truck driver to go faster than the 75mph. I went out with the Lincoln LS Club a few years back and that's just what we did and we ended up doing over a 100mph per lap.

I found that getting at the back of the group is the best. Pace car only goes 75 mph. Slow down a bit, let the cars in front get ahead and then WOT. I've had my bimmer up to 105 using this method.

They typically let car clubs go out in one group if there are enough.

So can we get a roll-call for who's planning on coming? If we can get a decent turnout we can all hit the track together as a group. I was talking to SeadooSandi earlier in the week. We were thinking of trying to get everyone who comes to go for dinner afterwards. There's a "restaurant row" that has sprung up right off I-35W between Basswood and Western Center which is only about 15 minutes south of the track. Let's pick a place to go after the event.

Kevin let me know that that the DT forum has ( 47 ) signed up right now.

I bet anything we can convoy with them if we want.

I have to try and get some things done so I can get outta here again. :racing:

Damn, I just check out DT, they got it happening! :thumbs_u:

What's up with the locals here in DFW...

Where's a good place to meet up?

cadzilla74

Mango, we're just gonna meet at the track and then go out afterwards from there if anybody wants to get some food and a cold one. SeadooSandi was thinking about meeting up at her house before the deal since she lives near the track but it really would be more of a hassle than doing a convoy to dinner after which makes more sense.

Well I always cut NW before Dallas and hit 35W about 5mi S of Hillsboro to see a friend on his farm right off 35W, Chat, Tx. before heading to Granbury to visit Mom.

It looks like 35W takes you right to it so you knowing that area better could prolly spot a big truck stop etc. I guess just S of FW.. maybe Carl's Corner.

Not really for me to say cause I may not be able to make it.. Grr.

I'm going to meet with the caravan coming up from Houston prior to going to the track. I would like to see some of the cars while there is day light.

FYI... I call the LFC information number and was told the event opens at 5pm and runs to 10pm.

I noticed the new times in the paper. It used to be 6-9 pm. Guess the response was over-whelming.

It's cool to run the track under the lights but could take up to 2 hours in line if you wait that late, ask me how I know.

Depending on whether or not I have my magnum back I'll drive my bimmer to the track, park it and ride in Cadzilla's or someone else's ride.

It's the one DT,. The Houston folks are leaving out at 9 and expect to arrive at Hooters (1711 Crossroads in Grapevine) around 1ish.

I believe their taking off from Hooters around 4ish.

I'm planning on getting to the track at 5 or a bit before. I'd like to be able to run my laps and then kick back and shoot some video of the others that are there when they are rolling. Probably go out for something to eat after if anyone is interested.

Well this time out it wasn't quite as fun, unfortunalty the lead car in my group was some guy in a large older suburban with like 6 kids, kept slowing down, we were doing only 45 mph half the time. I also didn't like the fact that one of the pace trucks kept going past me and then falling behind me over and over. Seemed like they had too many cars and pace trucks on the track at one time. After doing this two times in this summer I will not participate again, unless we have a large group from the forum show up.

We (me, my GF and kido) met up with some of the Houston folks at Hooters prior to arriving at the track.

At the track south entrance we met up w/Sandi and there was an array of Dodges there. We got in line early for the laps because my GF needed to find a bathroom, which were located inside the track.

After laps we parked and went up to pit row. Sandi and cadzilla74 met up with us there after their laps.

Like SteveRT I found the pace cars to be erratic thought the laps, they were not passing me but they got darn close several times. It wasn't necessary but due to that I was keeping an eye on the pace car behind me which distracted from the fun. We also had timid drivers in front of us. I got up to 90 once , I didn't get car out of 3rd gear.

I agree that next LFC we need to run together as a pack.

Next time, May '07, we should meet in the car club staging area. They'll put us on the track as a group.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet the Houston convoy. Hope you all had a safe trip home.
