you can't order these yet. the initial order acceptance date has not be set yet. a waiting list to get one means.. 'who will pay the dealer the most money when they arrive.'
when the date has beed set, go to the dealer and place your special order with the options and color you want. special order cars are built first because they are concidered sold and have priority. also, you get to see your name on the window sticker. how cool it that.

Umm, hello, guys? Ummm.... dealers can't order the car yet. The first year's worth sold out already, huh? Riii-iiight. Just like the Magnum R/T was at first? (paid MSRP for mine three months after launch, no deposit, no list...) Or, like the Mag SRT was? (paid MSRP four months after launch...) Or like all 4,000 of the Ford GT;s were all pre-sold? (take your pick at $8k under MSRP right now, some dealers have 5 or more (!)...)
I don't think there will be a problem. Gas guzzlers aren't exactly flying off the showroom floor, and in 18 months when gas is $5 there will be plenty of hemi power waiting for a new home.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a' git me one a them thar hemi challengers, but I don't think we'll have to fight for them. After all, Dodge IS in the business of actually selling cars, and lots of them if they can... these aren't 1-of-11 hemicudas or anything.... nor will they be at the numbers they hope to produce.

I went to 3 dealerships all around my area and all had the same reply "we have no idea when you can even place an order" "well let you know as soon as we find out"
However 1 of them did say that I was the 2 guy in line to know when we can place an order..........is that what you guys are talking about?
1 of them actually told me that there was still no official word from chrysler!! I walked right outta that dealership

Well the dealership or salesmen, its not always they're fault they dont know anything... Chrysler is REAL bad at letting their dealer network know what they're doing, heck unless the dealer or GM constantly reads websites and what not, they find out when the general public does for the most part.
Heck at my dealership i know more than the dealer and the General manager on average in terms of upcoming products, because they're not very internet savy.
Personally i think that's kinda dumb on chryslers part, if anyone should be privy to information first it SHOULD be the dealers and not the newspaper or internet sites ya know? It couldnt hurt.

We saw the Challenger at the Carlisle this past weekend. The Concept part was X out and 2008 was written on the card.

At Carlisle this last weekend I talked to the Daimler/Chrysler rep and he told me that this first batch is only going to be high output (like no S^%T) 6.1Hemi cars in the high contrast colors and they will be between $50K - $60K. No advanced orders is what he told me. If dealerships are taking orders, it is a dealership thing not a Chrylser deal. Be careful with your money on this one.
I think that Chrysler has seen the mistake that Ford is making with the Shelby GT500. $41K MSRP, Dealerships are selling them in advance for as much as $125K....and people are paying!
I am dieing to add one to my Mopar Family, but not at those prices.

"People" are not paying $125k for Shelby stangs.
"Idiots" are.
I can't wait to see a Mustang that someone paid $125k for.
Hello? A handmade all-aluminum supercharged 550hp Ford GT is only $150k. Anyone that would pay nearly the same price for a Mustang made out of stamped sheet steel with a solid rear axle and a cheap-o plastic interior is a freaking genius.
More power to 'em.
But I like what I'm hearing about DCX focusing on only high-end Chally's with high-impact colors and huge guzzler engines. This means there will be PLENTY of them on the lots to pick from!
I give it 2-3 months after launch till I can get the exact car I want for MSRP.
My local LA dealerships are drowning in high-impact Charger "Daytonas" or whatever they are (no wonder, they look stupid), and they have Vipers and SRT Rams stacked out the back too. No jacking in effect these days, they are DEALING on these cars. Move 'em out!
So don't sweat the Challenger. Plenty for everybody.

Actually ordered cars recieve no priority.
We found this out when theold www.mylxinfo.com (http://www.mylxinfo.com) site was still up.
I was keeping up the spreadsheet that was psoted there and I was trying to find a rhyme or reason for the sequence cars were built. We did not have enough information, but it did not seem to relate to the order date or whether the car was sold when ordered, or even if anyone had ordered it at all. (Sometimes they just build cars and then find a dealer to take them). Case in point it the car I own. I had ordered an identical car in Sep 05, but it was not built intil Jan 06. The one I took delivery on was not ordered by my dealer, they just called him one day and asked if he wanted it. I have all the communications between the dealer, shipper and factory and I don't belive this car was ordered by any dealership.
It does not seem to have anything to do with dealer allocation either. Because of the actions take agains Speckler, it's very unlikey we'll ever figure it out, unless someone happens in here that is way up the food chain and can tell us.
I have my name on a waiting list for the Challenger SRT. I know the sales manager, and do not expect to get fleeced. He hasn't sold an SRT yet over sticker, and he has sold a bunch of them. Mine was quite a bit under.

SOLD!

I just put a C$2000 deposit on a new Challenger. Dealership told me that there would be only one model - 6.1 hemi fully loaded, with only one option - auto or manual. The deposit meant that I get the 2nd car they get in the lot. And its at MSRP. Not sure about any of this but hey, the deposit is 100% refundable.

Do you HONESTLY see the price varying too much from the Chargers/Magnum SRT8's ? Doubtful. Dodge needs to sell these, not make them fantasy cars like Vipers. They're saying the production run will be relatively low for the first year, but the first year is only going to be 6-8months long, 2009's would probably roll in the early fall of 2008.
I have my name on a list and a small down payment with my local dealer for the big hemi .... he came through for my buddy when the SRT8's came out, so I trust the guy - even if it is a dealership thing and not an official DCX pre-order. Just like SOLD! , the deposit is refundable.

The only Shelby we got(I guess it was THE 1st in San Diego) sold for $75K 12 hours after it hit the ground here and some of the people on the waiting list(none were pre-ordered from what I understand) were pissed that they didn't get the chance to get the '1st' one.........
