The other day I was driving down the road in my 05' Magnum RT, when I hear this musical note and see the Check Engine Light (CEL) was on.
So I slow down and wonder, now what?????????????
Car is still running great, no missing or such. So I continue on my way and have no further problems, but the CEL is still on. Now I do run the SC Flashpaq (91 octane mode) and I did install a 180 degree thermostat. So I was wondering if that was the cause for my CEL.

I finally get around to hooking up my Flashpaq, to check for trouble codes. It tells me there are NO trouble codes, so I still go thru the procedure to clear any trouble codes. The CEL light goes out!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hooray!!!!!!!!!

Before I did the above, I did hook up my Flashpaq to my computer and did download two updates for the Flashpaq, just to be on the safe side.

Car is still okay, no more CEL's, might have been just a fluke.

Just thought that you might want to hear about it.

Did you just get gas? Remember a loose cap will throw a code>

if the MIL was on, there's a DTC somewhere. the flashpaq may not pick it up, but it's there.

Shortly after I had Maggies first oil change. Don't know it's cause ... of course I freaked out, stopped the car... checked the oil... everything seems ok... checked out the owners maunal that says operation is still safe.

Could have been loose Gas cap? Checked it - but light is still on. Anyway to reset without a Flashpak?

Thanks -

No, I didn't just get gas (burp), gas cap is tight, oil is full, car was warmed up, I always keep my gas tank over half full, not sure what caused the CEL.

Things that go bump in the night.........................I guess.

pull fuse 11 from IPM (integrated power module/underhood fuse box) for 10-15 seconds.

Bob you'll need a better scan tool (starscan) to retreive the code.

Can't he do the ign. sw. on/off thing a few times til the codes show on the EVIC??

Can't he do the ign. sw. on/off thing a few times til the codes show on the EVIC??he can always try but i think if the flashpaq can't pick it up, it's because another module is requesting the MIL on and the key dance method only retreives PCM codes.

Key suffle didn't do it - popped the fuse and voilla! No more engine light and all is right with the world! I was so thrilled, I treated myself to my first burnout! OH MAn - I'm going to have fun with this car! - Won't be long till I'm driving it like I stole it!

My CEL never did come back, my car is two years old, maybe a sensor starting to go bad?

I will try the key thing, if it happens again.
