Are these devices worth the money ? Do they stay on all the
time, and continually provide information ? Or, are they just
used when at the track,or 'racing' ?

They stick on your windshield with suction cups so really they're mainly for track days or test runs on the service road. They're pretty darn accurate really for what they are and what you're paying.

I have the Beltronics Vector FX2, & I will say, the darn thing is damn accurate and spits out way more information than I need. I leave it on all the time; it's kind of fun to check out acceleration & cornering g's in real time, along with a peak hold function.
What I like the most is it's 1/8 & 1/4 mile & incremental times & speeds. It will also calculate horsepower & torque.
All in all, for under 200 bucks, to me it is well worth it.

Does beltronics have a shift light?
No, but do you need it in an automatic? Even in Paddle mode??

I use paddle hold (awd) and in the heat of the moment i sometimes bounce off the limiter. By the way how does a shift light work can you set it so it lights before you hit the limiter?Sorry for rookie questions but i am one.

If I were you I would wait on the G-Tech. Superchips released G-Tech like functions for the 2004-2006 Dodge Rams with just a download to the 3815 Flashpaq. Full G-Tech capabilities are expected with this tuner by Jan. of '07! It's got 0-60, 1/8, 1/4 mile times and speed, hp and torque figures in this Data Acquisition download. You would have to think they will also add this capability to our LX Flashpaq. :racing:

I spoke too quick! It does not show hp and torque yet! It does show 0-40, 0-50, 0-60, 0-70, quickest run so far, 330' time, 1000' time, 1/8 mile time, 1/4 mile time and saves your best time if you like. It also has a Data Logging feature showing that isn't available, YET! Can't wait to get one for the Mag!
