Have a good trip. Are you in the military?

I have made that cruise on more than one occasion from Kingston to Calgary and back again. I finally decided the last time to cross over at Sault St. Marie and go the US route. I didn't trust my Renault Dauphine the last time I made the trip.

Yes I am in the Military (Army Sig)

If the LX Gods are gracious it will be a safe and fun one. It is why I traded in my Cavalier.

I remember Vimy Barracks well as I lived in the PMQ's as a kid, plus did my soldier apprentice training across the highway at the old RCEME school. Lots of good memories of those days!!! Have a good trip.

Time to find a coin-op wash and power spray those buggers off (we did it nearly once/day on our vacation). And... you didn't pack away all those micro fiber towels now did you? Keep up the safe travels!

Will be stopping at the local car wash in the morning to vacumn and spray the car down before we hit the road. Checked out the front end and it turns out that I must have driven through a swarm of Hornets.

I hope you'll skip the Yellowhead from Winnipeg to Saskatoon and use #1 instead. More 4-lane and higher limits.

I made that trip only yesterday. Don't count on much for services between the larger centres.

If you take the #1 to Regina and take the #11 through Saskatoon on your way, snow_mag and I will have to roll out the red carpet for you!

If you take the #1 to Regina and take the #11 through Saskatoon on your way, snow_mag and I will have to roll out the red carpet for you!We are here in Regina which I have to say me and the wife like this city. We were not too impressed by Winnipeg though. We did stop at a real cool antique Car museum, I did take pics to share.

Sadly I would love to meet up with the two of you but I am going to be heading south to MooseJaw as my wife wants to show me here childhood home. No fear though only gonna be in Edmonton for the next 3 years we will meet for sure.

We will be in Medicine Hat as of tommorow night. then we are staying at the Jurasic Inn in Drumheller so that we can take in the Dinos with the kids. But we will be stopping at Vulcan for some Trek Fun on the way.

Will keep you all posted. Thanks for the support.

That sounds like a great trip. I really love Moose Jaw. That city has a lot of character. Regina is a great city too. it has a lot more going for it than most outsiders like to admit. Take care and have a great trip. Maybe we'll meet up in the future.

Great choice on going to Drumheller. Make sure to climb the big dino in town. She sways on a windy day.

After running on the flat prairie I love driving those rollercoaster roads in and out of the river valley.

Hey yo all, lol

Made it to Edmonton, yeah yeah. Furniture and everything will arrive on Monday 19.

I have to say that I really liked Regina, moosejaw, medicine Hat and Drumheller.

Vulcan was cool for about 30 min then it was ok Star Trek done that, lol

Drumheller though ohh my god I could have stayed there for days, I felt like a kid again running around looking at all the Dinos with my kids. The town is so working the Dino scene though for sure.

First day in Edmonton though my kids bugged me to see the Mall, you know what MALL. We were there for about two hours and then the roof started to leak real bad so I decided that we would come back another day.

Thank god the wife seems to like Edmonton though, it would have made for a real bad posting.

This Friday I should be up and running with internet in the new home. So I will post pics from the trip.

Thanks to everyone that have posted and stayed on this topic. really appreciated the support.

For sure a great bunch of people, and I was honored to share my trip with you all.

This town is nuts for the Oilers Feaver. You wouldnt believe it. Somehting like 300 people arrested in an hour for stepping off the sidewalks.

Welcome to Western Canada and glad to see you made the trip safely.
Our son lives in Edmonton so we visit a couple times a year.
Whyte Ave seems to be the trendy spot although it will be a lot quieter now that the Cup final is over. I find it a confusing city to drive in since there are no landmarks as such but we always find The Mall. Enjoy and settle in.

YOu should enjoy Edmonton (CITY OF CHAMPS). Lived up there for 4 years getting my Forestry Degree. Catch some of the Eskimo Games this summer at Commonwealth especially catch the games against the Stampeders! The Eskimos should do well again with Ricky Ray at QB!

Also, not sure if the Edmonton Trappers (baseball) are still playing in Edmonton

If you can't get hockey tickets for the Oilers catch a few games at Uof Alberta and watch the Golden Bears play some hockey (CIAU).

If you are big in skiing...it is only 3 hours to Jasper - Marmot Basin! It is not a bad ski hill!

Just warning you some winter days can get right down nasty -40C with a windchill factor of -60C...Freakin Cold!

Been over a week now since I was last able to report.

the trip went great as I said, but the move in went real bad. Movers were 2 days late and then the unpackers were another day late on top of that. Leons furniture got all messed up and I almost lost my temper after dealer with thier "Customer Service Dept".

Been around the city several times now. Not that bad really for the size.

Looking forward to throwing a BBQ this summer. have to be busy cause I go out on Military Exercises on Sept 4 and I want to have a good time over the warm months.

Keep your eyes posted for the pics.
