So I wash my Magnum today at a DIY coin operated place close to my house. As I am starting to dry it I see a dust storm (micro-burst) headed my way. I figure I might be able to beat it home. No dice. The car is still slighly wet and wham I get hit by flying debris and dust. Then even more dust from vacant lots right off the road. It was so bad I had to slow down as my view was blocked.

It's a horrible feeling to drive a just washed wet car through a dust storm. I got home and it was a mess. Fortunately I was able to return to the car wash later in the night after the winds died down and re-wash it.

While I was there for the second time I spoke with a young guy drying his Altima next to me. He complimented me on the sound of the Zoomers. He had asked if the Magnum came sounding that way or if I had added exhaust.

Well anyway, my Magnum is all better now.

Believe me, I know that feeling. It is a never-ending battle to keep the Mag clean!

Yeah we need some kind of Star Trek shields that hovers over the car about 1 inch and no water, dust, or debris can touch the paint. Stuff would just slide off. That would be cool.

Thats weird because yesterday me and my 6 yr old were at the coin operated wash. Just as we were drying it off it started raining. The car is a mess again and I'll likely go back and wash it today :)
While at the vacums <S> a guy in a 300c pulled up and asked me about my zoomers exhaust also. I explained and left him with LXforums.com

I went to work one day and had just washed it. I usually park in the middle of the parking lot where it gets dusted out. So this one time I park up by the sidewalk where it isn't as dusty. The city decides to fill in holes in the parking lot. But only in one spot - right behind my car! I spent the afternoon looking out the window and cursing. They didn't even fill the bad holes where everyone has to drive.

Why didn't you go out and move it?

There is a trailer between the car and backhoe that is hard to see. It is what they used for the hoe. It was pretty close in behind me. I considered turning the hubs in and going over the sidewalk, then I remembered I don't drive an SUV 4x4 any more. Before when they did work out there they would have us move to the back parking lot. Ironically it is a public parking lot but our employer tells us where we can park depending on if we have jobs that take us in and out of the office during the day. Us that are held captive for the entire day have to park farther out.

Crummy luck, my dear, but I have to say - DANG that car looks good in the parking lot! It's like seeing a gold nugget amongst the rest of the gravel. Reeeal nice Maggie, iRock. :thumbs_u:

Thanks, right now there is not a car model made, no matter how expensive, that I would rather drive.

I guess it isn't so bad living in a rainy climate after all. I would have been so mad. But I'll bet on all those days of sunshine down there kinda takes the sting out of it eh?

It is nice that I don't have to wash the car very often. I just use QD and/or California Duster. But day after day of sun burning a hole into your head does get old.

At least your white Magnum doesn't show dirt as bad as my red one does. Mine stays clean for exactly one second after I pull out of the car wash.

Two washes in same day... been there... done that! In fact... car show today disbanded early due to rain (and hail forecasted) within a half hour of when we took off. Had to drive through a burst of a downpour on the 8 miles home. Pulled into the garage, and immediately out came the towels to dry the H.E. off... seems like I was just doing that last night!

The worst for me was washing the car and then taking it for it's "blow dry" only to follow a cement truck who's load was still a bit dry and having cement dust fall on the wet car. Grrrr!

Wash that off quick. It can be nasty.

It's been raining here so the dust is not as bad as it was that one day. My car is just dirty from rain. I think I'll hold off on car washes for a few days.
