I've had my share of crappy car vacs that aren't very effective, and eventually started using my shop vac. However, my new place doesn't have outside outlets and I'm thinking of getting a new 12 volt vac. Can anyone suggest a good one?

I know this isn't what your asking for but I just bought a Kirby...HOLY GEEZUS that thing is AWESOME!! I had a Dyson (6 months old) and it is crappy compared to the Kirby!

I used the Kirby attachments in the Magnum and DAYUM it is awesome!

First off let me ask you this, do you own any dewalt cordless power tools? If so aslong as it's 12volt or higher you can use a DC500 Cordless/Corded vacuum. I have one of these personally and sell them at my store and must say they are very nice. I bought specifically for using in my magnum. Option 2 would be to go with a DC515K from DeWalt as well, it comes with the vacuum, 18 volt battery and battery charger all in one setup. If you want I could hook you up with one at cost with shipping, but I will be honest with ya by the time you add shipping to the cost it's the same as buying it anywhere else. This beings there isn't much mark-up in tools.

Either one of these two vac's would work great for what you are looking for, cause if they didn't one I wouldn't own one and two I wouldn't suggest it to you to buy one or even sell them at that.

The DC515K runs around $129 in my store thats and the DC500 go's for $95, thats what I sell them in my store.

Thanks jasonr_01 - I know Dewalt makes good stuff, but I don't own any at this point. I'm definitely gonna look into your recommendations though.

I frequently use my "Redneck vacuum" my portable Makita blower!
Just open all the doors and blast away!
Works really well in between complete vacuuming!!

Yeah, I picked up Vac 'NBlo type unit for the office years back (was called a "metro2 data-vac" looks identical except for the color scheme) to clean up toner spills & do general vac & blow ops on PC cases and printers. Some serious air flow!

The oreck auto vac does pretty good. We got a couple of those when the wife bought her (& her mother's) oreck XL uprights. They have a good long cord & a good crevice attachment.

I use the old shop vac and an extention cord. I don't have outside outlets either, I have to run an extention cord to the garage. It works great!!!

I love my Dyson, it never fails to clean what I need it to. It is what I use to clean my Charger after its frequent repair attempts.
