Woodward Dream Cruise OK Guys, anyone and everyone who's a Car (http://www.300cforums.com/forums/#) Guy, has heard of the Woodward Dream Cruise. This is held on Saturday 8/19 and it's an all day event. We may even want to spend the night.
This takes place in the What????? Motor (http://www.300cforums.com/forums/#) City????? Dirty D????? Motown????

You get the picture. Detroit is my 2nd home. (In-Laws) I'm actually on my way there this weekend......

I'm all about leading the convoy.....4 hrs from Chicago. 70 MPH once we hit the Indiana / Michigan border. Keep up w/ me and we'll be good.

Dang it! I'm on vacation that weekend. I've been to several cruises, and they're great. I'd definitely recommend it to any of the club members. I've made the 4 hour trek to the cruise, and I'll go again (next year). You can pretty much see any car you want. A friend of mine told me to look for a red 67' Camaro with a 4 on the floor (can't remember the exact specs) because that was his first car. I found one, took a picture and surprised the hell out of my friend.

i've seen videos of that thing from a few year back. If you want to see classic mopars you are better off going to the MOpar nats or the Chyrsler Nats in July.

i suggest that you get hotels soon because this is not a 1 day event as its led to believe; this goes on all weekend but they can only advertise one day to apease the surrounding shops and neighborhoods. it goes on Friday (really huge), Saturday ( just huge) and Sunday ( moderate). hotels are usually completely booked 2 months in advance due to people seriously coming from all around the coutry.

i would like "CLUB LX of MI" to welcome any member to come join us. i am in talks with the WDC people to try and get a large spot for all but i will need a number of people attending as to get a large enough spot. if you dont get on board you can get a spot on the strip for about $50 dollars or find a side neighborhood where to may have to walk quite a distance. for further info please PM me or SCARBRS who has been staying in touch with me. thanks all and hope to see you there; you wont want to miss this one.

i got a supervisor from the plant coming to.. he has a '06 300C and is originally from Detroit.. his name is Mike also. he got transfered to Mopar Chicago from Detroit CenterLine.

FYI, people start cruisin' heavy AT LEAST a week or more before Dream Cruise day. Also heavy police concentration along Woodward. 10,000+ cruisers and 1.5 million people along the cruise route the day of the cruise. They do have shuttle buses along the route.

Not really. For three of the last four years I've had my '37 in a car show that's a block and a half away. Don't usually go on Woodward the day of the cruise. Might go out the week before. The first three years of the cruise, I had to work it. First and third years, I was on foot. Second year in car with a custom paint job. :mrgreen: Black and white with a star on the door.

All but the '55 Merc (was red metalflake, now flat black). That belongs to my son. The white Dakota R/T belongs to my wife. Had a '70 AMX that don't have a pic of, and my wife had a custom Chevy van the same time I had the custom Dodge van. Son and I are taking a police car over to Canada tomorrow morning for a police car show. The Friday before Dream Cruise, there is a police car show in Ferndale. All kinds of cars, old and new, from all over the US and Canada.

I think this location will be good for all parties. I, however, will not be staying at the hotel. I'll be staying w/ my In-Laws. For those needing a hotel, it may be best for you all to make your reservations seperately. This way, you'll all know exactly know what you're reserving....

If anyone is interested, Friday before Dream Cruise Saturday, there is a police car show in Ferndale. Will have police/emergency vehicles from all over the US and Canada. Old restored cars up to brand new vehicles. They usually line up and do a run up Woodward with lights and sirens around 5 pm. Have some pics from the Canada show we went to in my Photobucket site.

i dont owe the d-boys anything.. I am still waiting 3 months on my engine cover that i gave up on a long time ago.. he said he was gonna do it for free so i guess thats his reason for taking 3 months to do it.. even though i insisted on paying for it..

Here is how things went mind if i share our little adventure to Detroit.

So were at Street Legal Customs were BOB (aarcuda) has his car set up with the Charger Xenon body kit. The Owner Ben was nice enough to let Craig and I have 2 spots in the lot. Which are a 65$ price tag or more at some parking lots. It's raining there really isn't any cars to see but were sitting there. Craig is kind of bummed that his car isn't out front with Bobs you really can't see our cars in the side lot. He was hopping to show off a little. That was OK with me i was there to see the other cars but he was bummed he mentioned it a few times. No loss thou we ended up having a great time hanging out and walking several Miles.
Finlay we called it a day and headed to the hotel Pool before dinner and then the night cruise on Woodward. Dinner took a little longer then we expected but man it was a great Steak house. We all hoped back in to Black Cherri and went back to the Shop were Bob and Craig left there Cars.
It was packed on Woodard i couldn't even get off the side street to get on. Finally they jump out and walked the 2 blocks.I made some quick jumps and cut on to Woodward just as Craig was pulling out of the shop,Or should i say as Craig was Smoking the hell out of his Hankooks.
It was a traffic jam so we rolled slowly forward people oowing and awwing at all the cool cars.By now the rain had stopped and it was nice out. Craig's Wife was out the sunroof shotting video ( look for it soon in a Moddin art world) It was great rolling with the tunes turned way up. After about an hour of this and it was getting close to 9pm(closing time, whats up with that) we desides to turn around and head out.
We had gotten seperated so i was alone in Detroit with out my Nav. At least i knew were i was going this time. Our Hotel was across the street from DCX Headquarter so at 1030 pm at took Chrysler Dr in to see what the place looked like. I drove around looking for anything cool saw a few lots of DCX product and the test track. Then there in the back lot was the Museum all lite up with 4 cars out front a 300 8, Crossfire,Caliber, and Tored Red Charger. The pics didn't come out but i took some of Black Cherri parked in front of the signage and the scultper.I called Craig to comeover and see it. The place was empty no graurds nothing we looked around and snaped shots for a 1/2 hr. Then went over to the main Building were they have a certant Dr on the front. No gaurds anyplace what gives DCX. That was enought of that we headed to the pool again.
The next Day the 3 of us got up and went over to DCX to take some pics before we headed home or to Museum. These pics came out great. We even got some infront of the Dr again only this time the Graurd showed up. Where were they ar 11pm at night when we could have been doing something to the dispaly cars. He just asked us to leave and something about not taking pictures of the building. Blah Blah. Bob headed home but The Museum didnt open till 12pm so we got a bit and waited.
If you get a chance to vist the Walter P Chrysler Museum do it. There is so much more to Chrysler then you would think. Now after all this is were all walking around the place and lookin at the lobbydisplay waiting for the wifes and this old guy is talking to us. He mentions did you see that car in the parking lot with the hood in white. The old guy is going on on how cool the car looks im behind him and Craig in front. You should have seen The grinn on Craigs face how this guy was going on about Craigs Charger. The guy would turn to me and say things and I'd be like" yea its is cool" smiling. I think that when Craigs weekend got its high mark. There we are a Muesums dedicated to the Mopar that we all love and this old guy is going on about Craigs car in the Parking lot. That was Priceless. The Ride home didn't matter one bit after that.

I asked Ben about five times parking in front and he never said anything. I even asked before we went back to the hotel.

But don't worry about it, we still had a good time. We are probably going to go back next year, since we know what to expect.

Craig why didn't you say anything to me about parking in front? Ben would have put you out there in a heartbeat as he loved your car.

It actually sucked being stuck there since Klass's guy didn't know how to drive and park!

Yeah, I'm sure Andre could have driven a little better; however, the suspension on that car is not set up for street driveability. This is where the argument of Form vs. Function becomes involved.

I will stick up for Andre though considering it was the first time anyone of our company has touched the vehicle...nevertheless having to maneuver it around a few LX's and a Ferrari!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To add even more to it, we've had that parking spot up front reserved for well over 6 months. Did you see the NOS Energy Cooler in his store? He was one of the first ever Retail Outlets to serve NOS Energy.

By the way, your rides and what you guys have done to them.....AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Props to you
