It's a while ago I bought a new car. My last car I modded and kept clean and shiny all times was a Renault back in Europe and to clean the engine bay we just powerwashed it down.
But with the new cars like the LX, there's a lot of electronics around this area.
What do you guys do to get it nicely clean for, let's say, a car show?

not to be mean, but this forum is old and huge, a simple search will find almost anything. :thumbs_u:

This comes up from time to time. I use Simple Green on everything under the hood and then just hose it all down with the 'shower' setting on hose head. Just keep the water moving and dont let it flood one area to much it you will have no problems. I do mine all the time and have had no issues. Also I blow out the whole engine compartment with my air hose so I dont get water spots anywhere.

I usually let is sit for a few minutes then use a brush to lightly scrub the hard stuff. If you have a HEMI with the engine cover and you had it painted I wouldnt do that with the brush. I painted the 3.5L V6 letters on my cover and thats about the only thing I dont do with the brush cause I dont want to screw up the paint.

Can you try and be a little more precise, please? I have no clue if I'm supposed to let it sit for 2.41 minutes, 2.45 minutes or even 2.49 minutes. Let me know.. thanks. :)

I have used Armor All cleaner for years; it cleans great, dries well, and does not hurt or stain paint- just make sure to rinse it off before it has a chance to dry.....

I just wipe it down after every trip out of the garage. The Daytona is our 3rd (nice day car) so it really doesn't get that dirty. I won't give it a chance to get dirty.

Just wipe it down after each wash. Never really gets dirty.

I just carefully spray the engine (while cold) with our high pressure washer we have at work, every month or so. Don't spray too closely on any electrical parts. Keeps engine clean and shiny. Use rag with degreaser if I have any really tough spots. Never any problems at all.

Before all you guys spray the engine down - do you REMOVE the engine cover??
Or do you leave it on while spraying?

A good tip that goes against some of the help offered: if the engine has a lot of grease and grime build up(not on any of our wonderful LX's, right!!??), it actually helps to let the motor warm up, not to operating temp, but warm it up for a few minutes and spray it down good with your cleaner. The warmth helps most degreasers get to work on nastier build up. Just general cleaning is fine with motor cold. Never clean the engine while at or near operating temp.

I've used "Tire Foam" to clean my engine. Spray it on and use paper towels to wipe it off. Works like a champ.
