Nivomat leveling shocks

i have a 2005 Mag RT and i just intsalled a set of nivomats leveling shocks and i see the rear ride height is different...are the springs different or is the different ride height normal...

i am looking to tow 3800lbs, so ineed the cirrect setup

you need the matching springs too. the tow package springs are softer to make up for the high pressure of the Nivomat shocks.

May I ask how much higher the rear rides with this configuration? I'm considering the same modification.

Would you be willing to measure from the center bottom of the rear facia to the ground for comparison purposes? Mine measures about 12 & 5/8 inches.

I'm in WR also. Maybe you've seen my Silver SRT8 in town or on RAFB.

Have you driven around on some mildly bumpy roads (or roads with a bit of a bounce to them in terms of up and down motion) ?

The Nivomat shocks are autoleveling but they only level out after a few miles of driving. If your roads are real smooth, then it might take a longer distance or less if your road is bumpy like mine.

The Nivomats only act to raise the car not to lower at all.

The Nivomats maintain ride height. Look around the forum, there was a really neat link on how the Nivomats work. They are automatically levelling shocks.

When you add weight to the vehicle, they will increase pressure and maintain the ride height. When you take weight from the vehicle, they will lower back down.

When you have just put the shocks on your vehicle, if the vehicle has not been driven, it is quite possible the ride height may be too high or too low. As soon as you drive a few miles (especially with some minor bumps in the road) the shocks will level out to "steady state".

Yes, I've read the Cadillac Nivomat.pdf. You are correct they will relieve the load leveling pressure if the travel is above the "set" length. If your springs are holding them above the "set" length they do not act to lower the car. If your springs hold them above the set length then the leveling function will not come into play until you add enough weight to lower the height to the "set" length.

Maybe we're saying the same thing. My point is that if the springs are holding the rear above the set length the nivomats will not bring the rear down.
