Service Manager says I need a new windshield...

I dropped my 300C off at Huffines in Plano for the headliner rattle and the problem where windshield wipers stay on when in the rain sensing mode and it is set on the first delay setting. Dealer said I need a new windshield because the rain sensor is picking up imperfections... Odd because it seemed to be fine for the first 12,000 miles. I figured it was a problem with the wiper control but I guess I was wrong...

replaced a few wiper switches for continuous operation on #2 setting.

Check TSB 08-019-04, which deals with a recalibration of the rain sensor for the rain sensing wipers. I had a situation where the rain sensing wipers were not all to consistent. This TSB is a flash software update and, based on the rain we had yesterday, made a big difference.

Sorry about that. But I figure that it is always better to try some type of software fix before doing something as invasive as a windshield replacement.

Certainly shouldn't actually /hurt/ anything to flash it would it?

I get folks to flash stuff every day at work, something they get to do hundreds of things - if it won't flash, and it should, I don't want it in use.

How is the software compatability between modules? Are y'all seeing any problems there?

I spoke with the Service Manager yesterday and he said that the little black box that is stuck to the windshield (just behind the mirror) is the box that senses rain on the windshield. He says the seal between the glass and the box has developed an air-pocket and that is confusing the sensor.

He is correct that there wasan air-pocket or gap in the seal of the box to the windshield. I noticed it several months ago but I thought the box had something to do with Bluetooth so never gave it a second thought. Guess I should have read the manual more closely.

Anyway, by the time I got back to the dealership, they had already removed the windshield and it is to be replaced today. So far they have done a good job fixing the various problems correctly the first time so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

PS: While lurking in their lot I noticed they had a Black 300SRT8, a Magnum SRT8 and a Yellow Daytona Charger all at list price.
