Just saw this over at MSN:
Challenger Is NAIAS 2006 People’s Choice (http://autos.msn.com/as/article.aspx?xml=winningvote&shw=autoshow2006)

It was a battle of the muscle cars as the Dodge Challenger beat out the Chevrolet Camaro to win the NAIAS 2006 People’s Choice award.

A clear leader in the voting from the start, the retro-styled Dodge Challenger was the obvious favorite among MSN Autos visitors.

not even a close one and I say that as the biggest old school camaro fan on the planet. Just look at em. The challenger has a natural muscle vibe wgile the new camaro looks like forced creativity that was rushed in the end and came out all wrong. All they really had to do was drop new guts in a '69 camaro and call it done. They simply fumbled this one.

I gotta lot of respect for 'em both - but I thought the Challenger concept captured the muscle car "essence" better than the Camaro did. 'Course I got a bit of a "Mopar bias" workin' too...

Assuming Chebby goes forward with the Camaro, I'll be very interested in seeing how closely the production model matches the concept. I'll bet that production model looks a little less "space-aged" and a little more like the classic...

"If given a final OK for production, the Challenger could be in showrooms by the 2009 model year."

Not liking that...

That'd be perfect! The MSRT would be paid for!

My RT also. I just hope they don't price it out of control. Everybody I've talked to loves the car. Even Ford and Chevy guys. A friend of mine made the perfect statement about the Camero... "Chevy Just Don't Get It!"

2009!?
it's chevy's job to pass on profits till it's too late. If challenger isn't in showrooms in June of this year, somebody needs to lose their job.

June of THIS year?? as in 4 months away? I'll assume being sarcastic / joking. 12-16 months.. minimum.. and that's including using the LX platform as a base chassis.

The last rumor to fall on my ears said that DCX gave Challenger the green light late last month. Fingers firmly crossed everyone?
