I had mentioned it in another thread but thought it would be better to start a new one and see what people think..
I was thinking of a February Meet on say the 18th or 19th. Hopefully the weather is better than this past weekend.. I wish I knew a place where we could park indoors but can't think of anything offhand.
I liked what we did last time meeting at the coffee shop, but maybe we can meet somewhere where we can kick back and have a beer or two while shootin' the sh*t. I doubt I will have my Tuner by that time so no fun with that.
Hey AdamC, you have to come out too.. take one of the cars from the lot and c'mon out.. actually, we had a sunfire here last time so suppose non-lx cars are ok.
What does everyone think? Let's hear some ideas for something to do.. definatly should have this late morning or early afternoon to make use of the daylight.
I say make it low stress. A competition for the dirtiest LX!

I was figuring that the emphasis should be meeting fellow owners and not the cars themselves. We all know it's impossible to keep them clean in the winter.. so we can forgive the dirt and salt that coats EVERYTHING in the winter and still see the car for what she is. lol
Heck, my car is going to need a serious bath inside and out come spring. carpets, even though I bought winter mats are going to need shampoo.. leather will need a double cleaning and conditioner for sure... and the rest is gonna need a thorough hand wash and wax for certain just to get it back to where it should be.. maybe even a springtime claybar just to make sure all the crap is removed..

Weather here isn't too bad today, but the girlfriend called from Orangeville and boy did they get dumped on. Apparently everything is closed there and most of the roads going south are closed too...
No fun! I want summer!

Maybe you guys would like to come out to the meet and greet we are trying to arrange? Would be great to meet a local vendor and you may get an idea of the sort of things we are looking for.

Anyone have any ideas of where we can meet? I am not from that area so don't really know where would be good other than maybe somewhere in mississauga or brampton. don't really want to go downtown toronto or past the city (markham etc)..
Maybe somewhere on Highway 10 again?

How about near Toronto airport? I work in this area... easily accessible from north, south, east and west.
The Fox and Fiddle has a small room for functions if a crowd is expected, or, we could meet in the lounge area. Just a suggestion....
FYI - There is also a shop in the area and I plan to put my car on the dyno soon if anyone is interested is seeing this done?
Open to all options...

I live about 10 minutes from the airport, so that's easy for me... I'd love to see a dyno run done!

I am starting to think it may be for most people.. I'd be up for meeting every week. but then I am easily amused.. looking forward to the warmer days.. going to the car shows and hangin' out..
tentatively we can schedule this for the first saturday of march? What does everyone think of that? That would be march 4th.. enough time to plan something cool.. maybe get eastway onboard to come out too. Would be great if AmbeR/t had the turbocharger installed by then.. *grin*

Might be tight for me, but I'll probably be fine. I'm in Chicagoland the 1,2,3.

They say their "...prices can't be beat". I wonder what sort of discount would be had if we had a good number of cars running. Would be pretty neat to see/hear the LX's on the dyno. I've acutally never seen a dyno run (aside from Jurassic Park.. HAHA!). Of course I was out of town when I got a call saying there were a pack of Vipers heading to TAG.. grrrrr!
How many people would be up for it? Or is it a waste of time?

Dyno runs with the LX members would kick ass, seeing as how many of us are in various stages of modding our cars. Have some stockers, and some slightly modified to see what kinda gains people are getting from certain parts etc. Plus being able to see some SRT-8's on it would kick ass!
As for a march meet, me and my fiance might be able to do that, I'll know better the week before.

Cool, First saturday in March right?
Maybe we can do some dyno runs, and then go somewhere warm for bneers..
I will have my tuner by then.. so can load a stock tune, do a run, and then load a power tune and see if we can see any real differences..
as long as they have good fans, we should be able to get some good data before and after..

Oh, if I can find a sandblaster in the next day or so that can mask off my spare calipers, I will get them to mask them off and will get them powdercoated RED on wednesday.. also have a set of 'DODGE' Caliper Decals on the way and will likely powder clear over those..
Getting the wheels and grill powdered black wednesday too.. LED tails are supposed to be here by thursday.. and my LED replacement lights and load resistors should be here by tuesday.
I had initially asked HHP to 'DHL' me the tuner overnight as I had thought we were going to meet this coming weekend, but now that we have moved it back a couple of weeks, I can afford to wait now. (and save 50 bucks shipping)
have some ideas on mounting another red R/T badge on the grill once it's in.. doubt double sided tape will be good enough to attach to mesh.. so have another idea.. but will need to go buy some tin snips.. lol

I am interested in the meet and greet... however, weekends are hard during ski season. My kids are both involved in racing. I will try to make it out.
I am interested in what other Magnum owners have experienced and the mods they have made... Tech Q? Has anyone had a problem with their rear wiper working properly?
Regarding the Dyno
I have confirmed my dyno with Autoworx Perfomance Specialties. Date to be confirmed... I am still working my car in, currently 900km..
I have seen the Toronto F Body club and Corvette club do events at Autoworx. They had good weather dates for their events which included a show and shine, and a BBQ. The Dyno was available to club members for $50.00. This is an event we could consider if anyone is interested???
Anyhow, I will let you know when my dyno is booked and all are welcome to witness and try out....
Cheers!

Hey Marmaduke,
As for your rear wiper, I noted with mine if I turn on my defrost first it will not work. If you turn on the wiper first then the defrost it does work. I think the silly engineers realized some of us might hurt the motor if it was frozen to the window. You know those crazy engineers.
BTW I would show up to a meet and greet too.:beerchug:
Marmaduke, I'll likely be by Autoworx again on Friday, at least every Friday until my car is ready for Performance World.
It would be cool to see what number your SRT puts down on the Autoworks Dyno, since it is typically a little on the lower side.

If someone else is running their SRT on the dyno, I wanna see it!

I have contacted TAG, and am waiting to hear back from them. When I have a response I'll let you all know. I also asked them if they were interested in becoming a sponsor here.

FYI all... I work next door to Autoworx Perfromance Specialties and see cars on the dyno quite often.... Hard not to go and look when a modified car is putting down lots of HP. Being close to the Airport, no one seems to mind the noise (music to my ears).
Lots of really cool vehicles get worked on their. From mild to wild, stock to fully blown... I spoke to Wade today (General Manager) and he says no problem. They would be more than happy to help arrange an event catered to our interest (BBQ, show and shine, dyno, technical sessions etc.)
Perhaps this could be a topic of discussion at a meet and greet. I would be happy to assist with arrangements. How does a week night sound?
As for my rear wiper, no luck with the intermittent setting...

I will post when my car is booked for the Dyno and all are welcome. I plan to do this soon to get the baseline numbers for my car. This would be a chance for everyone to see what Autoworx is all about.
How does a weekday evening sound? Dyno run(s) and then grab a bite to eat and drink at a local establishment. Meet and Greet and discuss planning a larger venue in the summer.
I saw a post for a Montreal meet, sounds like fun...

there are a bunch of us (me included) that aren't exactly local to Toronto. Would take me a while to get there after work. I always figured with people's works schedules, it was too tough arranging things during the week..
But regardless, I will always do my best to make an appearance.. but weekdays it wouldn't be possible till about 6:00pm.. and in the winter, that's after dark..
Autoworx won't open on a Saturday or Sunday?

Weekends are not problem for Autoworx... This is when events typically take place. They also stay open late during the week for clubs that want an evening event. If we are planning a large scale event, then weekends make perfect sense. I spoke to Autoworx and they are open to all options.
I suggested a weekday, for this best fits my schedule. For the first Dyno run I do, I will most likey stick with an evening pull and if anyone is intereseted your more than welcome to come out and witness. I can plan for after 7pm if this helps to miss the evening traffic rush for some.
My dyno run is outside the original scope/intent of this thread... The original intent of this thread is for a meet and greet and this I am very interested in participating in as well. I will try and make it out... Is a weekend in early March still a go?
Magma

Well TAG just phoned me back. If we get 10 or more cars, the price is $65. Under 10 cars is $75. That is for 2 pulls.
They will do it on a weekend, and if there are 10 or more, he would open on a Sunday (to accomodate us, the customers).
Thats it from me!

So what is the consensious on this?
Dyno runs? Coffee? Wings and beer? I'd be interested in strapping on for a couple dyno runs.. Especially if I have my tuner by then.. (unlikely)
I am not from the area so if someone who lives around there had some ideas, that would be helpful. Where can we meet? Tim Horonts?
Well, one question is how many for sure? That's going to dictate where we can go, as well. There is a Tim Hortons not too far from there, out of the hotel crazyness, at Eglinton and Spectrum Way. It's also an industrial/office area so we wouldn't be bugging any of the neighbourhood. However, if there's 40 of us all trying to pile in to the same place, it might be crowded!
But it's about 2-3 minutes from the Dyno near the airport.
Another thought is to meet in a corner of a shopping mall parking lot. Sherway Gardens has double layer parking at the Sears end, so we could meet in the lower level if the weather's nasty. That's down at 427 & QEW, only a about 5 minutes from 401 and 427. But there's no source for a quick coffee to warm up.

Looks like there is some good interest for a few dyno pulls and then some discussion at Tim's or other... Wobbly pops and wings??? There is a Fox and Fiddle around the corner from the shop.
Dates have not been confrimed? How does Saturday Feb. 25th sound? Starting at Noon? Has anyone seen a long rang forcast? This could be a primer to a more formal event?
Open to suggestions...

I haven't seen anyone make definate plans for either, so my feeling is, if it's a go, I'd love to see it, otherwise, I'm not adverse to getting together more than once.
I have this feeling, nothing will happen unless we make it happen. So let's start picking times and places.
Feel free to change this, it's just a starting point.
Tim Hortons at 2 pm on Saturday.
South East corner of Eglinton and Rakely Ct. (Roughly half way between Dixie and Renforth)
Rakely is called Spectrum Way on the north side of Eglinton.
About 3 minutes from Autoworx, if it works, er, worx out.

Ok. sounds good to me. Maybe some want to get together earlier somewhere else and meet up at Timmies at 2? I am not adverse to going to oakville or somewhere else around noon to hang out for a bit before headin' over to Timmies...
Anyone have contact info at AutoWorx? Maybe we can get in there sometime around 3 for a few pulls? Who wants to put their car on and pull a bit?

I have this feeling, nothing will happen unless we make it happen. So let's start picking times and places.
Feel free to change this, it's just a starting point.
Tim Hortons at 2 pm on Saturday.
South East corner of Eglinton and Rakely Ct. (Roughly half way between Dixie and Renforth)
Rakely is called Spectrum Way on the north side of Eglinton.
About 3 minutes from Autoworx, if it works, er, worx out.

Marmaduke? Can you see if they will have time for a couple of pulls saturday? don't think too many are going to be interested.. but I am game.. and dunno.. think we could coax Jaak into showing off.. er playing..
if nobody is interested we can just skip it, but thought it would be neat to play..

Sounds like alot of fun...
I need to still confirm my schedule for this Saturday....
However, I definetly want to put my car on the dyno. I will visit Autoworx tomorrow and try and confirm some details for the group.
I will take a few pictures as well...
Sounds like a start time of 3 works for the group?
I will post again by noon tomorrow...

Hello All...
I stopped in at Autoworx this morning to setup some time on the dyno for Saturday afternoon. No problem... However, I have to confirm Pete's availability. Unfortunately Pete's daughter was sick today so he is not in. I will confirm with Pete tomorrow and update all.
Note: They want to see my car on the dyno as bad as I do....

Well now it's three jumpers on three relays so both fans are crankin'...
I have no clue what it will pull, as I don't know their dyno, nor have I ever measured my SRT8. Any idea if the snow tires will bleed off HP?

Gzzzz Joe.. really puttin me on the spot here. But ya, its a pretty sweet car wash as far as car washes go. Don't get me wrong, i love to hand wash my baby but in this weather I'd rather sit a heated waiting room and watch 10 other people clean my car as it rolls along a conveyor belt.

My carpets need to be cleaned bigtime.. I haven't done it this winter. (besides vaccuum..

Hello all,
I spoke to Pete today and unfortunately his son has to stay in the hospital for 5 plus days, so Pete can not make it out... However, Jeremy has offered to open up the shop to run the dyno for us. Looks like we will have the place to ourselves, as Wade and some of the other guys have previous commitments. I have suggested starting at 3pm? Does this work? Gives you time to have lunch/clean/then run up to Autoworx for 3?
I can be there for 3......

Nice runs. Take the SAE corrected and divide by .85 (assumed 15% driveline loss) = 433HP -- pretty good! And MAN uncorrected 388 RWHP -- see what cold temps will do!!! It will be interesting to see if the magnaflow on mine makes any difference. See you all at 3.

Yeah, it's a thing of beauty.... I was listening to mine when it was on the dyno, and even with the stock everything, I loved the sound!

Great meeting everyone. Lots of good tricks and information exchanged. I look forward to adopting and trying out some of the mods seen...
I did a video with sound of one run and will try and post tomorrow. I think it was of HEMIWAGN's second pull....
Nightshade, let me know when you try your tuner out. Would like to see how it all works.

If all goes well, I would like to go next weekend or maybe friday to do this again.. would be quick this time.. may bring the girlfriend with me so would not be able to talk cars too much.. she would not be impressed.. but if it's sometime after work.. (how late are they open usually?)
I don't want to wait too long.. My tuner should be at HHP already.. so he will hopefully ship it out to me monday..

A little dyno tidbit for our AWD brethren!
I think this is the Sprongl shop. I have seen him race in several Rally of the Tall Pines. Likely one of the best Rally drivers ever to come out of Canada. He used to be into Audi's and the Mitsubishi EVO's and now it looks like Suzuki's.

They are not listing the Wed. and Fri. night test and tunes yet, but the will. These are typically the best time to go for cars like ours. Not many people, so lots of runs, low price (typically $20) and enough traction for cars like ours. Sometimes cars like ours like a little spinning to get the motor into its power band.
Maybe we can all take our car out to the track and see what a "Family Truckster" can do.

Damn, that's one fine ride...
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c275/Magnum007/IMG_2365.jpg
And it was a lot of fun! I'm still smilin'!
It was great to see everyone's ride! And to see so many Magnums somewhere other than a dealer's lot! Even all three flavours of SRT8's!
It was kind of freaky when FastLayne and I drove from the coffee shop to the dyno. I kept looking at his car, knowing that's what mine looked like and was muttering to myself all the way "Wow, that thing is hot lookin'!!!!" "Holy Crap!"
At one point we were side by side at a left turn waiting for the light. It was a double left turn lane. I watched a guy turning across us and he kept looking at us, as he was turning... Seeing a pair of red SRT8's side by side at the light must have been an awesome sight. If only he had made it to the parking lot!
Nightshade, the HIDs look great and I was really pleased how controlled the pattern seems to be. It doesn't look like there is any light spilling out anywhere bad. (Another one for the list...) And the LED tails look really good...
Thanks guys, I was looking at everyone's ride... Loved them all!
I now have a new definition of a perfect week!

Hey guys, had a great time at the M&G too even though I couldn't join in on the dyno (sniff) but it was great seeing and hearing those solid pulls. I think everyone was pretty happy with their numbers, and I too was surprised to see just how much power these hemi's are putting down.
And to all of you camera buffs, thanks for not taking the embarrassing shots of my DIRTY car.
Tried to justify it by saying it'a a 4X4, but truth be told I was rushing to get there and opted to neglect the wagon not to miss a dyno run.
Didn't want to leave so early, but I know you all understand, it's still a little too cold to be sleeping outside :)

Hey Token and Jaak -- I would be grateful if you could arrange for a DVD to be burned. That would be fantastic. And eventually some of it could be added to my photobucket account - they take videos now.
Of course the video will not show the relative HP shortfall from Jaak and Marmaduke's beasts....
Token, I would be up for another dyno run. I'm working on getting the carbon out of the car. Of course I will also go back to autoworx to do a retest on the same dyno, but I don't mind doing one at 4 star either. It will be neat to compare their numbers to the autoworx numbers.
They have a great reputation -- they did some work on the 2003 targa newfoundland car I was "naviguesser" for. (a 427 cobra replica that got torn apart pretty badly, spinouts, lost wheel, etc....)

We know what an 05 will do at TMP, we're waiting to see what a 06 will do this season! Come on Rampant, rally the troops, it was lonely last year. No Dynos, no DA corrected timeslips, no excuses... just leave that nasty GM car at home! QB

The only reason the 06 has not been to the track is that the track has been closed!
It will be to the track, likely a Fast and Furious Fridy T&T. Cool air and a cheap night out.
It will be nice to sit back and do little to no work getting to the other end. Maybe I'll even pass the Grey Poupon!

The place is nice since it has a park like setting. The track is old and a little scary at 130 mph trap speeds, but for our cars it is fine. Here I would suggest a weekend T&T.
The burnouts are fun here though!

Well, I think it's actually funny, but I've only been to one track, and that was Grand Bend last year for the IHRA event. Talk about a mind blow for a first timer. I was right at the lights and as the cars got faster, I got amazed more and more... Seeing a 4 second 300 mph run was mind blowing. Plus the fuel vapors sure burn your eyes... And the sound! Chest pounding, I love it!!!!
