22" to big for V-6 3.5L?

I just picked up a 2005 Dodge Magnum 3.5L SXT. I was thinking of putting 20's or 22's, but I'm concern about putting TOO MUCH STRESS on the engine, performance and ride. I don't know much about cars and would like any input from those who know from experience or has 20's or 22's on their Mag.

Go ahead with the 22's if you like. They will not put ANY measurable stress on your car or engine. When you put the larger wheels on, you also change to lower profile tires so the overall diameter of the tires does not change.

I just put 20" SRT8 Charger wheels with 245/45-20 Goodyears up front,

and 255/45-20's in the back. Each tire/wheel combination weights in at
69 lbs., compared to the 47 lbs. the 17" tires/wheels weighed that were
OEM on my Charger SE. How do they feel? Virtually identical. Except the
20's feel like they are planted to the asphalt more than the soft 17"
factory combination. Go for it. You will enjoy the feel and the look.

22's on mine, no problems to speak of. Still potent of the line, and I feel conering is somewhat enhanced.

what about the suspension? does that need to be changed or modified also? i am in the same boat..i have a 2005 blue magnum sxt and was contemplating whether to put 20s or 22s on them...most likely if i do, it will be 22s..but i've talked to a couple people and have been given mixed reviews...some say that its more hassle and that suspension will need to be changed along with the ride not being nearly as good and then others say i dont need to put new suspension on it and the ride is a little different but nothing out of the ordinary..

Just remember that the combined weight of wheel and tire should stay well under 60 lbs so that your brakes can handle the extra unsprung weight.

If you lower using AM springs, thge ride will stiffen a bit. The factory shocks will not be tuned to the new springs. Probably won't notice a problem now but most likely will need to replace shocks sooner than a stock setup.

Welcome to the forum. Tell us more about your car and yourself. Pictures will help. There are many SXT's here with 20's and 22's and lots of postive comments on the ride and handling. The only negative come from the guys who don't have them.

If you like the look, and you do not road race your SXT, then go for it.
