Sorry if this has been covered before, but is this correct, that the new Challenger is not going to be an LX?!?

Taken from: http://www.allpar.com/cars/dodge/challenger.html (http://www.allpar.com/cars/dodge/challenger.html)
"The LY series will be interesting for a number of reasons; for one, Chrysler reportedly has much more control over the engineering than they did with the LX, so more divergence of Mercedes may be expected in some areas, and the tuning and interior design may be different (though we would not expect any radical changes; it appears that the Magnum/Charger and 300 interiors are being standardized throughout the car lines).
. . .
Challenger is an appropriate name this time around; just as the original rode on a shortened B-body platform (with some A-body elements, called the E-body platform), the new Challenger will ride on a shortened LY platform - with two doors. (The Dodge people have apparently talked about the two-door design as a "flexibility test" for the platform, which sounds interesting coming from the company that produced coupes, luxury cars, economy cars, and minivans from a single basic platform (http://www.allpar.com/eek/index.html). The real flexibility comes in their ability to build the Challenger on the same assembly line, at the same time, as the other LY models — which would be a major advance, since the body is very different.) It’s also possible that the entire LY platform will be on a slightly shorter wheelbase - in which case the LY would not be shortened, and would be cheaper to engineer and produce. "

So, does this make the Brampton plant out of the loop by nature of a complete retool, or is it not that big of a deal - just a shorter frame?
I heard about this through the grapevine.

One of the biggest hurdles in the way of Challenger production is that the Brampton plant is at capacity building the existing LXs. That means Chrysler will have to pick and tool another plant for the job.

Because I'm really digging on it! AND I'd hate to have to find a new place to try and get the kind of quality information and people for my new ride that I have become accustom too here! I just don’t think I’d find it...

The Challenger is LC. LY will be the new generation for the LX models. The first letter is the primary body code, followed by a secondary sub code.

"L" series examples:

L2= 300, Chinese CKD (kit form)
LC= Challenger
LE= Charger/Magnum 300 - export
LH= 300M/Concorde/Intrepid/New Yorker
LX= Charger/Magnum/300 - North America
LY= Next gen LX

Then the codes branch out further to designate specific vehicle info such as 2wd/4wd, trim levels:

LC DH 22 - Challenger base model
LC DP 22 - Challenger R/T
LC DX 22 - Challenger SRT8
LC DP 27 - Challenger R/T convertible
