Hey Lx'rs, I don't know if theres a thread on this topic but I once heard if you apply a light layer of vasoline to aluminum rims you can protect them from salt corrosion. Anyone heard of this or anyone have any other suggestions on protecting my R/T rims. And no... I'm not buying steel wheels.

Thanks.

vasoline is a petroleum based product. can't be good for rubber tires. i suggest just keeping them clean. self serve car wash pressure washers are great for spraying off road salt between actual washes.

Not good for the tiers eh?! Thanks for the heads up, glad I didn't do it. Believe when i say my mag sees a wash at least twice a weak when its nice out let alone winter season. (Sigh).... I hate salt!

Who would put that on the rims? It would only collect more grime. KY would not do much better, just washes off easier and dosen't taste so bad.. Abyss.. here I come!! ARRRRRR!!

Sorry, Guys, couldn't resist. Vasiline on rims, I thought it was joke anyway, might as well spray 'em with contact cement and see what sticks to 'em!

Read this and then decide if your rims need any further protection:

Speakin' of vaseline, there is no better way to protect battery connections from corrosion. A good application will last the life of the battery.
