The LA Auto show this year should be one of the best ever. The Detroit show opens to the public Saturday, January 14, 2006, so I think that it the best day to go to the LA show to be sure to see all of the new models they first show in Detroit. I know that I will be there all day. Who else is going? What about a time and place to meet and greet? We could meet at the Chrysler & Dodge area, meet for breakfast at the IHOP at 8th and Flower, or ?

sounds good, what is the date for the LA Auto show? I would be completely up for that. I am planning on going this year, as I have been many years in the past and it was awesome.

That would be a loooooooooong and expensive day, but worth it, I have gone there pretty late (that doesn't really help though). I don't know the exact time it closes though.
Hey the show starts on the 6th, what about the 7th or 8th. here's the link.

Nor-Cal to LA $75.00 on Master Card
LA to SD $25.00 on Master Card
SD to LA $25.00 on Master Card
LA Auto show admission $30.00 on Master Card
Food $45.00 on Master Card
LA to Nor-Cal $75.00 on Master Card
Going from one end of the State and back in one day = crazy
 What's wrong, your ride to slow.

Any time during the 7th, 8th, 14th, or 15th (with the exception of the time I will be at the SD meet) works for me....

The Detroit show press days are January 8 - 10, so I wouldn't go before January 10, and certainly not before the 8th, as I am sure that they will not unveil much, if anything, in LA before they show it in Detroit. Maybe the 15th is better, even though it is the last day of the show?

I think think the suggestion of the M&G in San Diego on the 14th then the Auto Show on the 15th is a great idea. Imagine all of our LX's caravaning from San Diego to Los Angeles. Ewwwwwwww...gives me the willies!!
Plus from my many expereinces going to the LA Auto show the last two days are the best.

The closest reasonable place for breakfast near the convention center is the IHOP at 8th and Flower. Parking is available in the street, in the Macy's Plaza / MCI center garage across 8th and plenty of other places.
The Pantry at Figueroa and 9th is closer, but always has a long line out the door.
How about 8:15am?

I'm was wondering if anyone in the L.A. area was heading down to the show? I hoping to get someone going there to keep their eyes open for the Lexani 06 Charger. I did a set of painted & tinted tail lamps for it and I was hoping to get some good pictures. Lexani is not listed in the exhibutors list so it must be in some one elses booth. Its a Brillant Black Charger with my painted & tinted tail lamps on it. I would greatly appreciate any photos that could be taken.

We were working in places all over the San Fernando Valley yesterday (1/12), then tried driving back to OC on 101, then tried going across Sunset to I-5. When that was not moving, my wife and I decided to go the the LA Auto show. The most interesting things there were the new Ford Edge / Lincoln Mark whatever / Mazda CX-7 crossovers siblings and the Camaro concept. The roof of the Camaro is way too low, and it looks way less practical as a car than the 1969 version. The Challenger was not there.

I agree, really bad communication just prior to Sunday. Never went to IHOP because that thread broke down fast on who was going. Sorry, didn't read your thread till it was too late about you going to meet.
I ended up eating at the Pantry (first time) and enjoyed that.
I was at the show and the Dodge meet by 2pm but with no idea WHO to look for...well, maybe I saw you and maybe not.
I liked the Kentia Hall the best, all the mods were there and all the "infomercials" were in full force. The Scion girls were doing a commercial...eye candy commercial as was the Nitto girls....ummm, mean reps.
Left at 6:30pm...spent all day there.

I know what you mean about all the girls, reps i mean (of course) the lamborghini display was sick (all white)....I didnt know anything about a dodge meet...if you saw me, I was wearing a green military cap blue shirt and jeans...anyways glad you enjoyed that show!!
I have heard MANY good things about the Pantry! I got there at 9 and left around 1 PM

It didn't seem as if anyone else was going, but sorry about the late posting. We were very busy, and I posted as soon as I was near a computer.
FYI about the Pantry - did you notice the number of layers of asbestos floor tile? The last time I was there it appeaared that there were more than seven layers, as they are worn through at the door.

Not sure if the tiles were manufactured w/ asbestos...but coming from NY, as long as I don't live or work around it, not so much of a worry for me. I just enjoyed that "NY greasy spoon" feel of the place as well as the food and the staff w/white shirts and ties. Just like a NY place. It didn't seem as if anyone else was going, but sorry about the late posting. We were very busy, and I posted as soon as I was near a computer.
