A week ago i tried spinning the tires but NOTHING i tried floring it, power braking and brake hold and NOTHING NADA. When you froor it it starts just like if you were bearly pressing on the pedal. oh and i had the ESP off and the gear selectoron on 3rd. Has anyone even gotten a small chirp befor on their 2.7? I won't even bother again. IMO this engine does not even have enough power to cause any transmassion damage. I havent posted this because i've been busy and lately since yesterday, with some oil grade and type iussues.

It's going to be an uphill battle to get a chirp with that engine in that heavy of a car.
Try it in 1st instead of 3rd.
If that doesn't work, get some bleach! :racing:
I tested a 2.7 for a weekend to get the feel for the car, and promptly took a 3.5 instead. There is a HUGE difference between the two in terms of performance. The 2.7 just felt like it was working too hard and the 3.5 feels just right, (the hemi I tested didn't even notice it was pulling a car :P ). I can't break the tires loose in my 3.5 either but, I don't really care.
I had no problem whatsoever taking a 3.5 equipped 300 and letting it smoke the rear tires with huge amounts of white smoke billowing out of the wheel wells.
It's amazing what a little bit of light rain will do!

Don't feel so bad, 2.7 -- most of us can't do it with a 5.7. (Numerous threads / posts on this).

try going on reverse in a smooth/slippery surface then gear up to "drive" and full throttle.. that'll do it.. hehehe

Hey guys i have a question about the oil you guys use on the 2.7. Do any of you use 5-20 when the oil cap says 5-30? well i am and the mag is making a whilsling sound at 1500 rpm and higher. will the 5-20 cause any engine damage? is anyone else doing what im doing? The owners manual is so confusuing because it says that the 2.7 can eighter use 5-20 or 5-30. I used mobil 1 super syn and i am very worried that my dads magnum will end up witht a rod knock. oh and the engine has 29,886 miles. I only used the magnum for less that 5 minuits after i changed the oil and haven't used it since. Oh and the sound appeared right after i changed my oil and it wasn't there before.

5w20 wont cause any problem. Not sure what your noise is. Rare but could be loss of prime in oil pump. You could take filter off and see if oil is in it. If no oil in filter then that would be your problem. Just a thought.

I think that it is getting oil to the top of the engine because i took off the oil cap while it was running and i could see a good amount of many new drops of oil squirting/jumping around. Or what do you mean by "primed oil pump"?

Man its easy to break the tires in my 300 Touring. All i gotta do is just slam on the gas even if the ESP is on.

As for as I know a Magnum SE 2.7L never had the ESP option in 05 or it didn't when I was looking at the build sight it would tell you that it would require an upgrade to SXT. It's available on the 06 models and it's a $1005 option. Oh well I bought mine with 3200 miles on the ODO and only paid $18,900 for the car.
I will probably give the SE to my daughter in the late summer or early fall of 07 and grab me a Magnum or Charger with the 3L MB diesel option and with AWD.

I have a 05 with ESP, ABS, and Brake assist (BAS), all speed traction control as well. Thats an SE too with 2.7 engine. I just wish i could find some mods for the 2.7l engine.

I just wish i could find some mods for the 2.7l engine.I think they stopped offering it later in the model year, as it wasn't listed as an option available when I was looking for a Magnum. Sometimes I'm glad I didn't get all those extras with the possible extra upkeep or problems from them. I almost bought an CV AWD RT but didn't want the leather, and decided I would go for a base model with the idea of giving it to the daughter in fall of '07 when the '08's come out.
You can do the duel exhust kit mod as the 2.7L & 3.5L are the same, wheels & tires, stereo upgrade, fogs, HIR head lights, suspension and a few other things like the supercharger kit I saw for the 2.&L engine.

Old Navy,
What supercharger kit, where did you see it?

Maybe we got the pick of the litter, but every time I give our 2.7 the gas off the line it chrips real good, and we put the 18" R/T rims and tires on and psi is at 35! Got the borla dual upgrade as well. Were happy here in Utah and getting 27+ mpg again today with 4,000 miles! Pablo

I would gladly take a 2.7 over a 3.5 if it meant beter gas mileage. I just went with an SXT because it comes with the traction control and the SE doesn't. Something I will need in upstate N.Y. The 2.7 is a good engine despite some of the negative publicity it got in the past. For me it was a tough engine. Just use a synthetic oil such as Mobil 1 and it will run fine. Strip the SE badges and add a couple of foglights and it'll look like an SXT anyways..

Yup thats what I did! At the time there weren't many sxt or hemis rolling around so I picked this one up.
