Well,
It's official. there are NO front Brembo calipers anywhere in the US for my car.
I have been driving a rental PT Looser for 2 and a half weeks because I went to do the brakes on the SRT and 2 of the 4 pistons on EACH front caliper were so corroded... they would not retract......
and now Chrysler called me and said that the soonest they can get any parts from Brembo is DECEMBER 21st!!!!
So I am stuck without my baby for 2 months........
Does anyone know if I can force Chrysler to buy me an aftermarket kit or something so I can get my car back??

holy crap, that is ridiculous.
If you can't force them, maybe you could borrow a set for a while and then take your car back in when the new ones arrive.

I just got off the phone with the Service manager... he said that if I was sure that the red ones from a Charger SRT would fit... He would buy all 4 and replace them under warranty for me....
so now I need to make sure that I can find the correct part numbers for the Red ones and let him know....
so,
Does anyone know for sure if the red ones from the Charger SRT will work? and if so... what are the Part Numbers??

Or would the Black ones from a Jeep fit too????? I could do that as well...
They all fit. 100% the same product, just different colors. Many here on the forums (including myself) have done swaps to change the color on their car. I'm running the red ones and my silvers went on MOL-SRT8's Magnum.

Only difference in red calipers and silver ones is just that- no difference otherwise. From the Service manual:
DISC BRAKES - SRT8
SRT8 models utilize four-wheel disc brakes. All brake calipers (2) are four-piston opposed fixed design manufactured by Brembo. While identical in all other ways, Chrysler SRT8 calipers are silver in color while Dodge SRT8 calipers are red.

there is stock coming throught the pipeline on November 11th, pn 05174316AB 65 units, and 20 of 05174317AB.
Charger numbers are 05175106AB and 05175107AB for the fronts and 05175108AA and 05175109AA for the rears
as a note-- the charger prices are almost double!!!!

http://www.brakewarehouse.com/ has calipers refurbished by centric in various colors with no brembo sticker for about $100 each + a core charge. I had to replace a caliper last week before a track day because of a seized piston and they still had calipers in stock.
If you're real hard up for the parts they should be able to help you out for not too much.

the Nov 11th date was the correct date last week, but Chrysler Customer Satisfaction group called the dealer and told them that date will be pushed back till Dec 21st...
Thanks for the PN's too... I will call my dealer and give them the info. the service manager says he can get the red ones approved for me no prob......

I'm still trying to figure out how the '06 SRT is still under warranty for brakes! You recently bought this car new?

Calipers not pads. The calipers aren't a wear item nor should they fail within the scope of most warranties.

I talked with a lady at my doctors office who has a CSRT8 and noticed she had red calipers up front an silver in the rear, fronts were replaced under warranty, though I would have a problem with fronts an rears being different colors if it was mine..
Smoove06CSRT
11-03-2009, 08:16 AM
I told the dealership i would not accept any different color on the front if the rear did not match....
so i think they are going to warranty all 4 calipers in red. I should know tonight.....
if not, they will have to order the ones from brake warehouse and have them powdercoated to match....

Well, Chrysler told my dealer to pound sand. they said I have to wait till the correct part numbers come in stock... so I am out of a SRT until AFTER CHRISTMAS.
So,
I believe I will be trading in for a new Camaro or Mustang......
I think I have had enough of the FIAT Group.
Wow! Totally unacceptable.

I dont believe the service manager asked u if they would fit,he's certified also? Chrysler will have no problem paying for red ones, its beter than 2 months of rental coverage.my dealership did that for a 300 srt that had a l/f leaking caliper, replaced with red caliper and when the silver one came in we swapped it.under warranty, again better than 2 months rental coverage on a backordered part

I know....
But there is NO WAY I am driving a Stripped down PT Looser till Christmas and make payments on a 300C srt...

But I am going to the Chevy dealer today to test drive a Transformer edition bumble bee 2SS Camaro.... Fully Loaded.

ahh ok- i'll keep an eye on the right side-- just a thought- which we've done for customers here that were under warranty.. we rebuilt them then when the back order cleared we swapped them on.. that's what we would do here.... chrysler be damned... you're the dealers customer they should make it right.
