When my Nav joystick broke, I found that reconditioning the Nav system would cost me $$, and my time to remove the Nav unit and ship it out to get fixed.

I looked around in the Magnum owner's manual and found that the steering wheel buttons can be used to select the Nav menu display in the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC).

The EVIC controls work the same functions as the joystick, for zero $$ & zero time to get your Nav working again.

Take a look at page 141 of your Magnum manual, which sets out the EVIC features. Then go to page 147, which gives you a step-by-step summary on how to use the steering wheel buttons for the Nav.

On the steering wheel, you press the menu button until the Nav is displayed in the EVIC--the EVIC info shows up under the speedo. Presto!--the steering control buttons now work for the Nav, doing the same things that a joystick does.

On the steering wheel, the SCROLL buttons can be used to go up and down through the Nav list on the screen and the FUNCTION button can be used to select an item.

When you're done--just hit the AUDIO MODE select button on the steering wheel to return the steering wheel controls to audio for your CD.

After trying it awhile, I actually prefer the EVIC Nav system controls to the joystick! It's a snap, and a good fix for no $$. Give it a try.

All the Best,
