...where the damn trees don't shed their leaves?
I spent a couple hours in the yard with my boys last night cleaning up leaves. When I woke up this morning, you would never know we picked up a single leaf:banghead:

Pacific Northwest. Fir trees, cedar trees. Moved here from NY. Own 10 acres of land. Don't even own a rake ! And.. no sidewalk to shovel. ... But, in the spring, I have to get on the riding mower twice a week !

riding is better than raking. but in the end, both are still not as good as being ridden....

Since you are in CT, does that mean you get to be the human toboggan in the winter?

All depends on what kind of trees you have, we even have trees down here in Florida that drop their leaves.
Even the palm trees shed..................... LOL

I planted 3 Live Oaks in my backyard 15 years ago - bought them at K-Mart for $13 apiece-- they are absolutely beautiful now (and, on paper, they're "evergreen"), but they too shed their leaves once a year (with new leaves right behind the old ones) and one right now is full of acorns, which are a PITA in our pool -- the pleasures of living in suburbia

Buy a leaf blower. I don't have leaves, but my neighbors sure as hell do. That'll teach 'em to go to church on Sunday.

Trees around our house are starting to mature and last year was the first year they were in the gutters..... However, leaves I can deal with for a month... winter on the other hand...... We want to move somewhere South to get away from snow.... someday.

I say its a tricky question....
Move a little south to get away from snow and then you have ice..I will take snow any day over ice.
Move a lot south and then you have neither but man can it get HOT!!!
I have thought about this but then I thought "Heck I get it all right here so I will just stay put so I can have a reason to complain about it all."
Seriously though you guys have a lot of nice scenery that I don't get here in Central Illinois (FLAT). I have to admit I was a bit envious when driving to the LX Nats.

NORTH Jon..... Really NORTH.
Alaska (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska) 152°W68°N
Trees grow north to the south facing slopes of the Brooks Range. The mountains block cold air coming off of the Arctic Ocean.
Move above the arctic tree line and your leaf issues are gone.... No snakes or lizards either... Hope you're happy. LOL!

Yep. I live in Ormond Beach Florida and I was out raking this morning. I keep telling my wife we need a condo on the beach. Then all we have to worry about is hurricanes.:blam:

any leaves appearing in my yard are magically converted to a beneficial mulch for my bueatiful lawn. :)

Maybe you should try a rig like my dad has...He has a leaf vacuum attachment for his riding lawn mower. He just rides around the yard sucking up the leaves and then dumps them into the mulch/compost bin (or just a big pile out at the edge of the woods :) ).

<<<chewed them all up to little mulch>>> X2. This way I don't need to put down as much fertilizer, just a little lime.
Plan 2: CHAINSAW. Then you also get firewood next season.

I live in the United States Virgin Islands, America's Paradise. Almost every tree down here is evergreen, and I don't mean pines. The tropical trees in the islands drop very few leaves in comparison to the deciduous trees up north. You definitely won't spend hours raking. A little maintenance is all it takes. However, we have an average year round temperature of about 87 degrees, and an almost constant tradewind of 5 - 10 mph. I have lived here 20 years and I love it. I highly recommend it. By the way I live on the island of St Thomas.

I keep yard mowed very close and hope the prevailing winds blow them toward my neighbor who does the same thing and hopes I get all of his. We used to do them several times a week for the month or more it takes for them all to drop. Now do it every week or so and an hour with good blower takes care of them. Bradford Pears and Horn Beam don't drop leaves till very late November into Dec.
