View Full Version : What features would you like to see added to the next generation LXes???

What features would you like to see on the next genration LX model???
I myself would like to see more full instrumentation. What I mean is, more mechanical gauges. I know, if you have EVIC you have this, but you can only look at one display at a time. What I'd like to see is in addition to the standard fare speedo, tach, fuel, and temp gauges is volts, oil pressure, oil temp, and maybe either trans temp., an economy gauge or manifold vacuum. Have the gauges in a pod above the A/C vents, like the 68-70 Charger.
Another thing I'd like to see is the cruise control switches moved to the steering wheel face, rather then a seperate stalk. No extra wires, just an additional LIN bus component.
How about an automatic park brake release??? But instead of past versions, it would only release when shifting out of park or neutral. When in drive or reverse, the brake would stay locked.
What about Heads-Up display on EVIC models???
One thing I'm definetely interested in is a taller windshield, so you don't have to duck down to see traffic lights.
More styling cues from past models??? On Chargers I definetely want to see the hood and door styling from the 68-70 models. On 300s, I'd like to see some styling cues from the 57-59 300 C-D-E. Most specifically the front clip styling. The grille on the 300C-D-E has a grille that is wider on the bottom than the top. The red-orange grille from the 300E would be a perfect fit for SRT8 models.
Auto Up/Down windows for all windows, with a variable lockout feature, either lockout auto function or total lockout.
Standard side airbags. Let's be an industry leader and put them in all models. Blind spot monitoring would be a good option for safety too.
Blinking side markers, so we don't have to go to the trouble of re-wiring the headlight connectors.
LED interior lighting. They have these in other models like the minivans (RT), and the Sebring/Avenger (JS), but the light is too cold, too localised, too un-natural I think.
Power folding mirrors, like the Euro spec. LXes.
Auto Temp Control with digital display. Yes, the Dual zone A/C is ATC, but it is arranged like a manual system. Why not digital displays and controls???
Standard wheels are 18", with matching dual piston front, vented rear rotor setup. No more 17" wheels or single piston front, solid rotor rear brakes. R/T and 300C's get 20" wheels, SRT's go to 22" wheels.
Anyone else got some idea's??? Feel free to voice opinions or suggestions. Poll will be attached too so vote away.

A heads up display would be awesome. I also like the wheel sizing options but I think 22" rims for the SRT cars is a bit much from the factory. If you want wheels that big, go aftermarket. I like the current cruise control stalk, power folding mirrors would rock, and don't even think about making the windshield taller.

22's WOULD BE NICE-and since ford is doing it now its time to catch up.
f-150-explorier-edge all have 22's option from the factory now.
I'm trying to make a deal on a 2010 special order explorier with 22's and a 4.6 in it

I'm just stating my opinion. I don't like rims that big. To me it just makes for a harsher ride and slower car. If it's an option then sure but to make it standard would be a major detraction to people like me and others who live in a northern climate. However, I think show cars look good with them, especially with a nice lowering kit.

Can I order a new MAGNUM? :)
I'd like to see the back window be able to open separately form the lift gate. I'd also like to have the cargo area side windows swing open remotely like so many minivans and SUV's.

Fill the damn wheel wells with something other than a 245 or 255 tire. If a 295 fits, make it a factory option, this is a muscle car not something to be drivin in the snow.

Manual trans behind a higher output v6. A 300 horse or more v6. lets admit it now with fords new twin turbo v6 taurus, the 3.5 "high output" mopar currently uses its getting kinda out dated since it was used in the 90`s in the LH series.... Dump the 4 speed trans for the v6 and go with the 5 speed auto-stick, but keep the rear axle geared as what a 4 speed would have. Then maybe the 3.5 would be able to leave a nice end trail on the black top instead of a little fart followed by throttle lag. How about EVIC in the non hemi models. I mean really, my 27 year old fox chassis merc cougar has more readout in the dash than my magnum has...Oh yeah and bring back the magnum.

The thing that really bugs me is the placement of the turn signal flashers on the dash. Move them from the sides to the center so you can see them !!!!!!

another thing i wanted to add was that the way the gauges are setup are too hard to see....fromt eh drivers seat! i have to actually wiglle to either side to see if my ESP is on/off, my turn signals, the cruise control light it hidden from view by the wheel.
and did i mention i think the magnum needs to be brought back?
ok ahow about better retro styling? even a small touch of old school muscle would bbe nice like they did the 1999 charger concept.
just ma few cents...

Actually, I would like to see them take a few things away - since I am old school.
I don't need the independent rear end, give me a regular rear end.
I don't need TPMS, I own a tire gauge.
I don't need ESP, I know how to drive in slippery conditions.
I don't need Navagation, I can read a map.
I don't need MDS, I like full time power.
I can also do wthout the computers and fuel injection - give me a engine that the average guy can work on.
Air bags & ABS are okay - keep them.
Also offer a stick shift, I can use my left leg just fine.

22's stock on the srt's is a bad idea
Head up display is for Chevy's lol, don't get it why does everyone think they need that on an LX, we have the tradtional speedo, and a digital one on the EVIC. Maybe the cars should come with a monkey who tells you every minute or so what speed you are going
Manual Trans in all models would be kick ass, and for what i paid for my SRT i would like to see them come with a full size spare(Take it out at the track if you are racing)
Air conditioned seats would be nice for sure as an option.

Instead of having to glance down at the speedo and take your eyes off the road, it's right in front of you. Full size spare would take up useable trunk space. People put larger wheels on all of the time, bigger even. Something stock that looks really good, like the Magnum 500 style they did in 18" size.

i dont like the 22s idea either, i think 20 is what the srt should be kept at and maybe have options for all se-srt models of what size rims (upto 20) you want on them along with the tire.

That's one of the reasons why I got a 300 instead of a Charger. When I was on the market looking to trade my 06 300C I was realy leaning towards the Charger, then ooppsss, no memory seats, no rain sensor wipers, and some other things that once you learned to live with, it is hard to go back. So I ended up with another 300C.
Now, somethings that I would change is: the Adaptative cruise control sensor location, it has to be somewhere in the cabin, behind the rearview mirror for exemple, the thing can't see a little dirt that already chimes ACC blinded, therefore it is worthless if I can't use, and the it also would allow us to change grills without worring about it.
The bluetooth button and the voice activate command button needs to be on the steering wheel, why the hell I need to look for the damn button on the mygig to answer a call, really distracting in my opnion.
Push to start button is already on the 300 2010 models, not sure about the Charger, but that is a nice cool feature.

I voted for a few of them, but I think the most important is HUD.
It's not just for chevys, and as a human factors major, I'm kind of sad to hear anyone rag on it.
I drive with my steering wheel in my lap, meaning as low as it will go, and all the way telescoped out. With my wheel there, I have to crouch to see my speedo through my wheel, or lift up off of my ass and see over it... If I just had a speedo/tach on the windshield, I'd be much better off.
Plus, it's almost 2010, why isn't HUD the standard at this point?

first a wagon
front rear heated seats
built in air compressor (ie the old pontiac 6000ste and bonneville ssei)
memory seats
turn signals on rear view mirror
voice calling/navigation
srt awd option
awd rt's can actually get the "r/t" package
if you say 500 hp make it at the wheels lets not pussy foot around, blow the doors off the compitition with out the aid of a supercharger
most definatly side air bags amazing how cheap people are and wont order them unreal
would love a real e brake

1. I like the idea of a six speed stick for all engines, including the V6.
2. The current Charger windshield is too short given its positioning on the body. I am average height for a male and I can't see traffic signals very well either.
3. Bigger wheels work for some, but I don't necessarily love them. Standard 18s in a couple of different configurations and optional 20s or 22s could be an option. I value a better ride and economy when I want it, more than bling (being a middle aged fart).
4. More instruments mounted above the A/C vents is a good idea.
5. I also want the SRT ability (on an R/T model) to see how fast the car goes in the quarter and 0-60 times.
6. Hey, wouldn't it be extremely cool to be able to dial in a performance tune at a stop light and have it download in about 5 seconds? That would be stoplight tuning and racing! Now that is something no one else has.
7. Make a plainer jane perf. version with the go, but a lower base price, by deleting some of the gee-gaw features.

I could've sworn I already posted in this thread but here goes:
1) Track package - Better brakes, trans cooler, rear diff cooler, stiffer shocks, beefier sways
2) Technology package - Bluetooth, iPod cradle, HUD, color changing interior lights, 3D NAV
3) Sound package - Something outrageous like 26 speakers, 1,000 watts, etc.
4) Luxury package - Heated/Cooled seats with massage, reclining rear seats with heaters, rear DVD, passenger facing DVD, upgraded leather
5) Designer package - 22" rims, cool optional colors (like flat black, chrome, pearls, etc.), custom badging but no gold packages - I'm talking about brushed nickel or titanium, something upscale and modern vs. 1980's cadillac. Custom two tone interiors with hand stitched leather. Hell if Hyundai can do it on the Genesis certainly Chrysler can.

Better mirrors (quick lane changes are sometimes a leap of faith)
More dash "nooks and crannies" to store little stuff
Large pockets on back of seats
Optional fold down armrests and better padding on seats (for those that drive long distance)
MDS on/off switch
ABS on/off switch (I know they can't do that)
Auto dimming rearview mirrors as standard equipment
I'm sure I'll think of more...:tinfoilhat:

After a year with the car,(magnum) there are a few changes I would like to see. Better quality interior materials, rear view camera, turn signal indicators on exterior mirrors, more padding on door armrests,(my elbow hurts after a long drive), and seats, (my ass, too). I would also like a liftable rear glass. Lights in the glove compartment and console. Also, I've basically quit using the nav system as it takes forever to input and is totally useless in most of Canada. Chrysler should offer a free update of the system periodically. And like everyone one else here, A NEW MAGNUM !!!!!!!!!

yeah that is pretty sad, whats more is i beleive our 3.5L is either the second or the third weakest 3.5L engine, i know that the impala 3.5L from 2006 made like 211HP
(again im talking of the 3.5L otherwise i know the mustangs 4.0L still cant match our HP)
however the mustang will replace the 4.0 with a 3.7 which will pump out i think it was around 311HP and the camaro's 3.6 already has 304HP, a G37 has well over 300HP and we get a lemon thats already half squeezed.:ninja:
