Who is Douglas McIntyre and why should you believe anything he says?

I believe they are splitting them up so they can concentrate on two different areas without interferance from each other. Might be better for the budgets as well. Who knows, we can only hope for the best. At least we will always have the old MOPARs to hang onto and own. They can't take that away from us. As I have always said, there will always be a MOPAR around for me to drive. :racing:

My thoughts exactly. This is a blog entry, nothing more. And just what the hell is a "credible rumor"?

A lot of times private hedge fund investors will throw this kind of **** out there to affect the direction of stock prices so they can win their bets on longs and shorts. Just one freak'n opinion.

Yeah right, FIAT bailing them out is going to ruin them. FIAT is so icky, it could buy and sell them many times over.

They aren't getting Lambo anytime soon, VW already owns them along with quite a few other top brands as well.

Ralph, now head of Dode cars and design, is the creator of our beloved LX series. Maybe he could have them punch out a few Magnums for 2010 for people with older Magnums that want to get a new one;)

I love my car, but I think I like it better with Mercedes influence than I would with Fiat's influence. Fact of the matter is, short of fearing for my parts supply in the future, I really kind of think that the Chrysler needs to just kind of die, and then be dismantled to try and recover the billions we dumped into them (ie: sell Dodge, Jeep, and their other brands off, then dismantle and sell all of their factories, etc.).
lastly: I'll be happy if the UAW loses money. No offense if any of you work for them, but they stand to be a part of the reason these companies are doing so poorly, from what I've heard about their retirement system, benefits, etc.

I attended a funeral in SoCal over the weekend and when I was getting fuel at the border of CA and AZ, I ran into this girl who said her father is one of the chief mechanics at Chrysler. She said they are moving to Florida to begin work on a hybrid 5.7L that as she put it, "the gov't wants to see happen." I guess it pays to have an SRT Manual Chally. She walked up to me and complimented the car and then started talking. She said it was her father who fixed the manual trans issues in the Challengers from the designs the engineers put out.

I also found this:
There is speculation Chrysler will build the 200C hybrid and the high-end, low-volume Alfa Romeo 169 sports sedan in Brampton.
and
research firm IHS Global Insight Inc. said Chrysler would start building the Alfa model at the Brampton plant in November 2011

I think Fiat will rescue Chrysler with fresh products, if they can just get them into the country in time. Trouble is, its going to take time even for that to enter the U.S. market at its abbreviated pace and Chrysler may not have that long.
Think what Chrysler could have done with Cash For Clunkers if it had Fiat 500's on the lot.
As for that analyst... as Done and others said its just a blog entry. And a blog entry that wasn't spell checked. The numbers are indeed very very bad.

The Chrysler 200 will be based on the new Alfa Milano. As such, I'm sure there are hybrid designs. The small sedans will be based on the Gran Punto, and the Hornet is FIAT 500 mechanicals. The Hornet is an example of what FIAT does extremely well: take mundane sedan components and make fun to drive, low cost sports cars. (The X1/9 was based on the FIAT 128, and then you had the 850 and 124 sport models). The V8 cars are just going to be a redo of the current Mercedes developed platform which will also be the source for the new FIAT Berlina. FIAT wants to build a million cars PER PLATFORM to reduce costs. The splitting of Dodge and replacing the top people is typical of the moves the head of FIAT has made in the past in "fixing" ailing companies. Those 2 guys are also accountable to him directly for the performance of their divisions. FIAT is not in this to save Chrysler. The gov guarantees the loans and FIAT gets to reestablish ALFA and maybe Lancia for a song.

Well, I just hope there's something left in Mopar muscle to choose from when I'm ready to buy again. Nothing against the Mustang and Camaro, but no contest when it comes to the Charger and Challenger for me.
