so...i neglect my vehicles wheels very much...ok...well not as bad as you guys may think...but some time ago i had a taken my car to a detail shop where they used a very abrasive acid based chemical on the wheel to get all the dust and grime out from the inside of the wheel...i didnt know what they were using till about the 5th trip to this detail place...ate away the finish on the inside of the wheel...so now every time i wash the inside you can see what i didnt get out...cuz its in there...and it ate away at the finish on the face of the wheel itself....so i have some time now for the car to sit around and was thinking about refinishing the wheels all the way around and i came across a company that ive used before but forgot about..wheels america...they are awsome at making these 500$ wheels look like they just rolled outa the factory...and a feature that they have now is wheel widening!!!!

what do you guys think if i were to widen the rear wheels from a 9inch to a ten inch? would this drastically affect the cars drivablity? im not doing it to gain any more traction...for that i have the hhp bogarts....but a 10 inch wheel on the back would def give her some grr from the backside view to the all knowing car junkies behind us huh? i dunno....they can even take them wider...any of you experienced wheel guys know what this will do to the wheel and the ride of the car? your opinions would be really great on this one....

oh and by the way...that detail shop...the guy only owned for about 9 months due to paying out sooo much money to repair and replace peoples wheels...( he was a contracted shop for 3 major dealers as well.....OUCH!) the previous owner warned him about that product and said it would only be ok to use in a SUPER deluted form and should not sit on the wheel for more than 30 seconds, he did a 50-50 mix where as he previous owner had recomended a 10-90water mix.......these guys would cake the wheel, walk around and do the rest...then spray off....wat a big boo boo that was huh?

My rears are widened to 10.25". I have to use 3/8" spacers so the tire doesn't rub, but otherwise no problems. It drives like stock, except the tires don't spin quite as much when you stomp on it.

Right now, I have a 285/40/20 Nitto on the rears. The tire just tucks under the inside of the fender. You won't be able to run an 11" stock wheel due to the offset and all the widening is in the back. If you want an 11" wheel that tucks, you'll have to go to an aftermarket wheel - probably a 2 or 3 piece too. I bought the wheels used, but they were widened at Weldcraft in Michigan for $250 each.

the widening is in the back? a lil unclear about what that means? is the widening done on the inside of the wheel or the outside of the wheel?...this company can actually widen both in and out i believe....something crazy about it but how sick would that be...

They widen the barrel, but its behind the face of wheel, so all the extra width goes back towards the body not toward the fender.

You could probably do and 10 and half, but then you'll need a 5/8" spacer and probably some longer lugs too.

sweet....

I want to do mine when it is time for new tires. Want to widen front and back evenly as much as possible without rubbing. Gonna go with red pockets and black barrels.
