Paintless Dent Removal

I thought I would past along my little experiment on a door ding on my Magnum. I barely had my Magnum for 10 days and of course the parking lot door ding appears on my drivers door. Fortunately, the paint was not damaged just a dent which was very obvious. Anyway, I saw several signs after a recent hail storm refering to paintless dent removal, so I thought I would take my car to a local body shop that offered this service to see if they could take the dent out.

Here is the good news. After about 30-40 minutes they had completely removed the dent. They used tools slid down by the window and worked the dent out from the inside out. No drilling at all. It is once again perfect. The guy charged $60.

So if you get a ding in your door that hasn't damaged the paint consider the paintless dent removal process. It worked great on my car.http://www.lxforums.com/board/images/icons/icon10.gif

I had a good sized crease in my CTS hood and a couple of door dings. $120 and 90 minutes later, you could not find the dents and dings. A very good service...

I also had a dent in my door and a friend of mine removed it the same way in 20 minutes.
you must be very happy now without the dent in the door, I know that feeling ;-)

As long as the paint is not cracked, paintless dent repair will usually do the job quite nicely.

I did some graphic design for a friend of the family who was starting a used car dealership at the location that used to be my dads Gas Station. He was the dent repair guy for all the local dealerships. I didnt charge him for the graphic work, and he fixes my dings for free. he took 6 of them out of my old truck and so far (knock on wood) he hasn't had to take any out of the magnum. If you get a chance try to watch them when they do their work...this guy was skilled and it was cool to see. It takes a ton of practice and he told me he first practiced on some doors from the junkyard that he worked over with a ball pein hammer wrapped in a towel. Since you are working blind with the tools in the door his first couple attempts did not push out the dent, instead they created lumps next to the dents.

You are absolutely correct. As I watched this guy work the dent you could tell he worked by feel. He was literately working the metal back to smooth. The technique is a mix of skill and artistry. He remarked that my dent had a sharp crease in it which made it hard to fix but in the end he beat the dent.

When the dent first happened I thought I would be stuck with this dent, as with my other cars, forever. But thanks to this process it was quick and painless to restore my Magnum.

Paintless Dent Removal works great a kid rammed his bike into the side of my 2004 Dodge Ram Diesel and left a big crease. I got several quotes from the body shop as I am a stickler for imperfections on my vehicles. They quoted me from $500 to $700 Cdn to take off my mud flap, bushwacker flare, tail light and paint and prep time and labour. The paintless dent removal which worked awesome can't even see the dent or any flaw cost $225 Cdn. Well worth the money!
