Im loseing my mind here. I when form my 20in SRT8 rims down to a nice 18in rim so I can get this side wall that is supposed to make driveing on the street with a ton of power easyer to deal with. The tires are 295/40/18 Nitto 555 Exstrems.
With my old cam and head combo I was able to brake the tires lose in 1 and 2nd no problem. Now I just installed a bigger cam and exsteam heads and the tires are brakeing lose so fast that I can barrley keep the car out of limp mode in first gear. And yes I do have 3.23's with esp off.
Im getting worred as I have a bigger motor wateing for me, and a nice F1A on its way. IF im strugling with a little 392, is my charger going to be undirveable in 1st? Sure you can baby it in 1st but It kindof bits my ass when my boys SS Head, Sparro Cam car fell like it can launch and hit hardder on the street than mine!!
Will the NO ESP mod help my situwation? Is there a better tire?

I love the Nitto Drags 555r for street usage...I'm running 305's on the factory SRT 20's on the rear...

That's what I was gonna suggest. Mickey Thompson has 2 sizes that would work on 18's. Perhaps the 265's for the front and the 305's for the rear. My buddy Richie Miller runs the 305 on the back of his 392 Magnum. He ran something like a 1.6 sec 60' time and a 7.3 sec eighth mile. I run the 265s on my puny little 5.7 and run 1.7 sec 60' times. Yes you can break em loose on the street, but you gotta work at it.

Seriously I don't know how you expect to get any traction on the street with a 4XXci motor and a F1A ProCharger LOL. Your best bet would be running that 28" M&H you have on the 17" rims all the time. I don't ever see you laying into that set-up in first gear on the street, all it would do is go up in smoke. Not to mention you need to keep in mind, you are not going to be able to roll into the throttle like you do on N/A cars since there is not true tuning for part throttle boost.

So going back to my stock 2.92 may be a good option? VS the 3.23? or even the 3.06

Honestly, I don't think it would really matter at that power level. Either way as soon as you put it to the floor on the street...traction is no longer an option. :racing:

How do those 305s fit on your stock 20s and what size are you running up front?
I want that stagger set up bad but was told I would need to widen my rims.

I'm not at your HP level but the 275/40/20 Nitto 555Rs were a nice difference from some Vredesteins in the same size.
With the Vreds I would lose to Honda Civics on the street as I'd just do a big smokey burnout during a street launch.

They mount right on...I'm running the Nitto Drags in the rear and running the Nitto NT-05 in the front(255/45-20)...
BTW look in my profile to see pics...

Dude, seriously, slow down on typing and use the proper spellings...if the tires are 'braking' you should have no issues...if they are 'breaking' then that can be an issue...

I guess I couldn't actually call it "street racing" because 1) I was up against a Honda Civic and racing insinuates some sort of competition, 2) I only intended to pull in front of him to get to an exit ramp and 3) I just smoke the tires as they walked away from me.
