Completing engine mods and suddenly have more power than the RSA 245/45/20 's can hook up. I want to upgrade the rear tires for traction, but only use it for street use. Considering Nitto 555r but want the biggest size that fits.
Going for the sleeper look, so I want to retain the stock 20 x9 wheels. So what tire fits on that rim and under the car.
Would bigger tires work on wider rims, and is anyone making a repoduction wheel in a wider size than 9 inch. Does the offset need changed?
Alot of questions, but the goal is to have maximum rear traction with stock wheel appearance. The rear axle will be the 09 challenger rear upgrade. Input?

I'm putting the 315/35/20 Nitto NT05's on mine. Having the stock wheels widened 1 1/2" and spaced out to fit. It's really tight but will work

Weldcraft will be doing it and I have 2 different quotes. 1 verbal at $265 ea which is ridiculous and an email for $150 or $175 ea (I forgot), a bit more reasonable. They say it's a 3-4 week wait right now :panic: From all the measurements I've taken a spacer of 5/16" should give just enough clearance without sticking out of the wheel well at the top, almost even but not protruding. There will be a little trimming of the inner plastic liner but not sure exactly how much until it's all mounted, balanced, and in hand. I'll also be changing the studs to longer and stronger ones. There may be more options out there. I couldn't find any I liked other than spending $3-4k on new wheels but I need other go fast goodies like a cage first. :racing:

If you just get 275/40/20s in Nitto 555r drag radials you'll be set for the street. I got good 60' times with them at the track compared to Hoosiers and Mickey Thompsons. They are a little more slippery when its cold out but they last longer than other drag tires. They are also OK in the rain.

Yeah the 275/40/20 Nitto is a good option, BUT has anyone fitted a Nitto
305/35/20 DR555r onto a 300. I'd like the widest tire possible...and preferably on a proper 10 to 10.5 rim.
Doable or not..............anyone?

I ran those too NITTO's 555R in 305's on a 20 X 9 stock rims but had to use a 1/4 inch spacer.
Ran through 2 sets... before giving up on them for track use... Good street tire IMO

Ujokin2............Nitto recommends a 10 inch rim as a minimum...was there room for those on a 10 inch rim? Did the centers wear out faster due to the domed shape on a 9 inch rim.
thanks
Is the wheelwell in a magnum the same size/shape as a 300?

Im running 315/35/20 Vredesteins in the rear with no spacers.
Curious to see which drag will fit in there after the engine work is done.

Is there any modification of the wheelwell needed for that big a tire (305 or bigger).
How far does the tire stick out with a 0.25" spacer?

No wheel well modifications here or spacers, whats the offset on the rim that you will use?

Yes it fit better then expected. Not too much evidence of a domed shape other than yes anytime you tend to put a bigger tire on a smaller rim the the center does tend to wear out faster and also sometimes you do not get the full width of the tire to the ground.

Did not stickout past the fender and I did not have to modify the wheelwell.

Where is the tightest clearance when mounting these wide tires?

Stock 300C SRT8 wheels. Looking into widening the rims 1" if there is room to better fit the tire.
I looked under there and the front part of the rear wheelwells on the inside looked to be under an inch tolerance.

Tightest clearance with my 20 x 10 rim and 315/35/20 rear tire and with a 18-20mm offset on the rims the closest I come is at 7-8 oclock I have a tad under a 1/2"

That's the area I was concerned about. Looking at the inner liner, I think I could heat up and remold the plastic liner anywhere I needed to except that one area. Right behind it is metal though I haven't checked to see what. I believe it's the cabin area under the rear seats.
