Max tire width for a RT with SRT wheels?

I put a set of the SRT Chally wheels on a 6 speed RT Chally yesterday and realized it needs beefier tires. I had always heard that 3mm spacers were required but the wheels spun freely and didn't rub anything. I didn't know if this was due to it having the track pack on it with larger rotors.(atleast they appear to be larger than my older RT Chargers) Will a 275/40 rub the inner fenderwells due to the with increase and higher offset? I figured maybe this is where the spacer came into play. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not sure on that Chally but 275s all the way around works great on the rest of the SRT 8 lineup. You should be fine.
I have Vred 275s and they fit and ride perfect.

A 3mm spacer was needed on the front of NON-SRT vehicles in order to prevent the tire from rubbing on the lower control arm.

5mm if using bigger than 245/45R20

I have 275/40 R20 and needed a 5mm, several others have had same issue.

right now the 245/45 eagle f1's aren't rubbing, nor is the wheel on the control arm. I can get a credit card to clear the gap. Planned on a 3mm spacer just to be safe. Are the cheap ones at tire shops okay or should I machine my own?

I have OEM SRT wheels with 275/40's on all four corners, but until I got spacers I couldn't drive the car. I started with 5mm spacers, so I don't know how well the 3mm's work or don't work.

Many people have used the cheap tire shop spacers, but many have opted for custom billet spacers.

The cheap spacers suck ass. I bought some and had wheel shimmy. Replaced them with billet spacers and it was much better. The billet ones weren't even quite twice the price of the cheap universal junk ones I had.

Are the spacers needed to kick the wheels out so they don't rub in reverse only? Thats the only time I can hear a noise. Could a 6 speed RT have a different offset than the LX's? I say that because I keep reading that people are running spacers on all SRT wheels on LX cars.

No. All hemi equipped LX's share a steering knuckle (I believe the V6 cars share this knuckle), and all SRT8 LX's share a different knuckle.

The steering knuckle is deeper under the upper ball joint on the SRT8's to accomodate the wider wheel/tire.


I had factory SRT8 wheels with 275/40-20 Toyo Proxes4's on my Mag. RT with a 5mm spacer, and still had the slightest rubbing while turning in reverse. Under high cornering load/deflection, I believe the tire was hitting the knuckle also.
