What about the gaskets for the headers, are they any good? those are the ones that came with the JBA headers.

The JBA gaskets are garbage. Get a set of Mopar. You'll thank yourself later.

Then Mopar it is. Anything else I should be aware of or should get?

Good deal. You will see the difference in the quality. The only other thing would be some have gone with locking header bolts. I used the ones that JBA sent and haven't had any problems. Those are the correct gaskets.

hmmmm... I don't know, has anybody out there had any horror stories when using the JBA hearder bolts?

Probably more of a just in case. But since I'm helping spend your money, throw an underdrive pulley on there while you're at it, lol.:Na_Na_Na_Na:

I've been hearing about the underdrive pulley. Forgive my newbness but what will it do? I want y'all to help me spend my money. Better to get everything right the first time then to have to go back and do it over.

It reduces parasitic drag. It may not be what you want if you have a high end sound system. It's maybe another 5-10 HP. Since we're spending you're money, how about some JBA hi flow cat mid pipes to go along with the headers. It could go on forever, lol. Good luck with the install.

parasitic drag?

Dont worry about header bolts. The stock ones work perfectly. :)

negative.
the jba header flange is thicker than the 5.7 manifold flange.

you need 6.1 stock header bolts or hardware store bolts.
the bolts that came with the JBA headers are just fine.... use them.

an underdrive pulley is the circular thing that goes on the end of your crankshaft.
it is one of the pulleys in the serpentine belt.

your stock one is (making this up) 5" in diameter.
an underdrive pulley is 3.75" in diameter.

thus for every rotation of the crankshaft, the accessories (power steering, a/c compressor, alternator, water pump) all turn less..

25% less.
so youre spending 25% less power to run your accessories than you usually would.

its worth it imo, and the pulley has to come off during the install anyway.

That makes sense, less power to the accessories equals more power. Where's the best place or site to get an underdrive pulley?

More parts arrived. 25% Underdrive Pulley with belt, 180 degree thermostat, and Mopar header gaskets. Less than a week till install.
