BCLX member of the month

Well teamo, congratulations from myself and from the entire BCLX, as well as the others that voted for you for LXOM.
Even though you never made it "officially", you are so freaking deservent of this reward, that I would like to lead the charge in introducing a BCLX member of the month award of our own.
I will suggest a couple of guidelines, then everyone can chime in as to how to make it work and be fair for all. When we come to a fair conclusion, I will make this a sticky and make it law.
So let it be written...So let it be done...:mrgreen:

BCLX MEMBER OF THE MONTH GUIDLINES


1. Must be a member of the BCLX (get that out of the way first off).
2. A short essay or description on why that individual feels this person they are nominating should be running for BCLXOM.
A simple write up and some pics.. that adds to the deciding factor.
3. how to submit a nomination?

ohhh this is exciting!! FINALLY!!.. here are a few of my thoughts...

1. a short essay or description on why that individual feels this person they are nominating should be running for BCLXOM. I like what Dannyboy did on Oscar ,a simple write up and some pics.. that adds to deciding factor.

2. we should decide if the person who wins BCLXOM can be won month after month or a once a year win only... personally i think its ok to win month after month, should make others get up and do some wonderful stuff.

3. the most important, and I can't express this enough, any member nominated should take great honorable measure of pride, being nominated itself is a win, it means your efforts, contributions, posts, helping hand , whatever the case may be was noticed.. No one should ever feel bad about not winning the BCLXOM for the month.

4. i feel a member should be allowed to be up for nomination more then once.

5. can a member nominated himself? something to think about.

6. do we have any funds or a way of getting small trophy's, nothing expensive, and to award this.. i think the mods should present the award.

7. what is the timescale, should it be every 1st of the month and let the polling run for 3 days?

Wow you seem to have some thought into this Kuldip and I think that polling should be done for a week...longer that 3 days as some members dont go on all the time like some of us.....

well I think that the BCLXOM nominations should be sent to Ron because than it is anonymous so Kuldips wright up is perfect and than send the nominations to Wellsy and he can pick the 4 that are nominated the most or deserves it the most(just an idea) then set up a poll for the person and maybe Ron can talk to the head admin people or whoever is good at making them we should have one of those football things like what they use for the fastest lap or 1/4 mile and stuff like that because I think that is a sweet situation.
And also I think once you have won you can't win for 3 months or soo just an idea....

I just feel that the rules got to be black and white.. if not it could get quite messy and ugly. If setup right this could be a leading idea that other LX car clubs follow..

Also what do we do when there is no nominations for a particular month ?

What about a scenario where a budget conscience guy who does creative free mods for his car against a guy who spends 4K on it... personally I feel it shouldn't be about the car at all.. IMO.

So are we aiming for a BCLXOM for June?

I can definatley help out maybe having a shirt made for the winner or a patch on the jacket that says bclx of the month may 09 ??? justa a thought

A patch is a good idea,
I like the week long voting window, gives everyone a chance to nominate/vote.
Erik's idea of a 3 month period to win again is a good thought,
I don't think a trophy is that expensive, can just say "BCLX of the month on it",
I'd say the nomination process the last week of every month and the first week votes are cast,

The nomination process would be common sense decision.... I believe most of us would look and pick the best person for the honour, I can think of a couple who would be derserving of it as well as Oscar but being a small club, how many nominees would there be?? I'd think 3 would be enough...

That's a good idea for an award Johnny, I will offer items from my shop as well, maybe a gift certificate or something....
If we look after the BCLX awards within ourselves, with services, gift certificates, trophies with the name engraved monthly etc...
I'm sure that part would work out nicely...
but we have to get through the selection process first...:beerchug:

Because of our exponentially smaller numbers, perhaps making it a Bi-Monthly (every 2 months) award, may be something to consider.
Perhaps, instead of a trophy or a patch, a small adhesive plaque for your car or tool box?
Under the hood or on your trunk deck?

everyone has awesome ideas maybe make a trophy or something with a die cast LX on the top of it to cut costs down and whoever wins for the period has the trophy and than their name goes on it and than passes it to the other person the next winner and the 2 month idea is perfect for sure
and the winner can have a patch for the jacket to put on the arm or something to keep for winning.

so winner gets gift card or something and a patch to keep and the trophy for that time period

Do some sort of graphic for the winner's sig as well, like Stell does for the dragstrip footballs.... Make sure the recognition is seen on the forum. It's not insignificant, so play it up. (Just don't make it enormous!!) Maybe Hazman can do a cool base image that someone could have control of, and only release with winner's names laid on top. Chuck comes to mind, since he's always having fun with the car images... If he wants to do it, he'd be a great choice.
