I want a brand new one since you never know what people do with their guns, and I dont want to spend a crap load at a department store or something like that. Anyone deal w/ any websites or anything? Im looking for a small frame glock 21.

You basically buy the gun online and it's sent through that dealer. You go fill out your paperwork and pick up your gun. All federal and state laws apply to the sale of the weapon. I bought one this way even when I was stationed in California.

No local gun shows? You can get decent deals there. It seems like I see a billboard or tv ad for gun shows every week here.

Shop around online and see what the model you want goes for, then you'll know if it's a good deal when you see it.

Personally I'd ditch the Glock for something else. I don't like the fact they seem to have a "different" angle on the hand grip in relation to the barrel than "most" pistols. So if you shoot more than one type of pistol your muscle memory (automatic pilot) has a tendency to point the Glock up in the air. It takes a few minutes of practice before I'm on target, but I like shooting different types of pistols and need the feel to be some what consistent with my other weapons.

My favorite is Kimber!

My next recommendation if you like the Glock would be a Spingfield XD.

The Glock grip angle is proper for any kind of tactical stance, it's just not good for Weaver. Regardless, that's a personal issue, and if he likes how a Glock feels, then he's made an excellent choice.

And like you, I also like XDs. Excellent gun, especially for those who "can't adjust" to the Glock grip angle.

I love 1911's, but just because YOU got a good Kimber does not mean the intolerable amount of bad reports should be ignored.

You can't make quality from crap parts, and crap parts is what makes up a Kimber.

Well...that's were my issue starts...as an active military member we train utilizing the weaver stance and you probable heard the saying "train as you fight". I'll leave it at that...

I must be lucky...I can break clay pigeons at 50 yards with my eclipse II, never jammed and has always fired. I'm not saying Kimber is the best by any means--I'n fact I just said I like it. Aren't we "all" entitled to our opinions as you have stated yours.

Since we're on the same page of opinions...I plain and simply don't like the glocks and I've owned one for over 5 years and could care less for them. I think there are better choices out there than a glock.

I think I may have read more into your response than you posted, but good points none the less...

No worries, we all have our opinions, and no topic is more violently argued on gun forums than a Glock topic :)

I own every type of pistol (and a few rifles), and enjoy them all for various reasons.

Like I said, if he likes the feel of a Glock for his use... he can't make a ore reliable choice. But I do know many people who can't adjust to the angle of the Glock grip. BTW: I wasn't insinuating anything when I said that earlier... that's just the best way to classify it, instead of saying "people that hate the Glock angle).

I was in the business for a number of years, and also shot in competition. Out of every gun I personally used in matches, and saw others shoot, only one brand overall performed without one failure in my presence.... Glock. Sure, they ain't perty, but they are nearly unstoppable.

I have a good, local gun store I usually deal with. If they don't have it in-stock, they can get it... ;)

Strictly my own opinion, but the Glocks and the XD's just aren't comfortable in my hands. I practically learned on a classic Colt .45 Auto. I have a Taurus 24/7 Long-Slide that I like very much.

Finding extra magazines for just about any semi-auto. can be hit or miss... I usually expect to buy 6-8 and have 4-5 that really work well... ;)

my department carries 21s...so I want to have one of my own for range use. Otherwise yes I would be open to other options. Id hate to get used to another gun and then when my life depends on it grab something im not used to.

Ray O'Herron in MN (I Believe) can also get you excellent pricing on firearms if you are LEO. I have a G21 purchased way back in 98 before the finger grooves and light rail. I recently held a G21SF and compared it to mine. I really didn't feel or see much of a difference.

I wouldn't say never, I have seen all sorts of revolver malfunctions over the years, from light primer hits to bullets backing out and locking the cylinder, to insuficient clearance between the forcing cone and the cylinder to misadjusted trigger stops, to out of time cylinders etc etc.

Buy a good quality firearm that you are comfortable with. If you are going to carry it for personal defense, practice, practice, practice with it until you know how it works, you know how to clear any sort of malfunction, and you can consistantly hit what you are aiming at without thinking it.

Doesn't matter if it is a revolver, or a semi-auto.

because....as an inmate told me last night, I am a wanna be cop. Im just a jailer at the county jail right now. Im working nights until I finish my degree then I plan on going into law enforcement. We just have 2 guns for transports and they have to stay at the jail if were not on a move.
