So it was my first time cleaning the engine, before i installed my 180 t stat and then i decided to give my engine a bath. As i was spray some Simple Green I remembered to be safe and cover the intake with plastic bag, and i did so. Once i finished, i was so stoked that my engine is finally clean, I then drove down the street to start the evaporation process and suddenly my engine dies, me thinking that water must have gotten somewhere it shouldnt have and evaporation would fix it soon, after a couple of tries to get my car to run normally again, i took a glance under the hood and....:banghead::cry::1puke:

and now looks like this

I forgot to take the bag off the intake!! I suffocated the engine!!! And now my intake looks like sh*t, I totally f*cked this one up and it ruins my whole weekend. Now my question is, did this harm the engine and does mopar sell the filters separetly?
oh and after the 180 t stat, what do i set my fan settings to with my predator?
thank you, im now gonna go shoot myself in my face

At least there WAS a filter. Could have been a rag and no filter.

Yup, I was cleaning the engine bay and had the air filter off with a rag stuffed in the cai.
We needed change at the shop so I shut the hood at the shop and blasted to the bank (4 blocks away). The car shuts off, and I am thinking WTF , raise the hood and find the damn rag stuck halfway in the TB. I felt like one dumb ass I tell you.

Hey don't be to hard on your self stuff happens, this should not hurt anything and it could be worse you could have a rag stuck down next to the valves, now that would ruin your year.
As for the 180 tstat I set mine at LS 181F - MS 191F - and Hi speed 220F I keeped the Hi speed near stock because the Hi speed fans will burn out if there on all the time, but if you go to the track you can lower them to help keep your temp under 190F but the LS and MS fans do a pretty good job at keeping things cool on the street.

when i saw it all shriveled up, i thought the water you used to clean the engine was too cold.....
ok....bad joke.....
the motor will be fine, and you could probably get a replacement filter pretty easily....

I used to work at a deisel shop and a guy (not me) got his hat sucked into a super charger on a big rig. It did big bucks of damage.

I use 186/196 for low/high fan speeds ... there's no medium so I set that to the same 196 as the high speed.
My coolant temp never goes over 200 :)
