O-ring leaked a lot, engine went into limp mode, got it to my mechanic. He had to borrow a dipstick from the Chrysler dealer. Fixed the seal, put in tranny fluid, reset the computer 'check engine' light.

THEN, I find out that it's a common problem, AND that you basically need to starscan it to find what exact amount of fluid to use at certain temps (or something like that).

That brings me to now. The tranny is definately not up and down shifting all buttery smooth like it used to. Is an incorrect amount of fluid to blame, and what do I do about this?

Mercedes benz dipstick PN#140-589-15-21-00 about $26 on ebay. It has 4 lines, u want the fluid level to hit dead on the top one after driving her around for about 30 minutes until operating temp. If you want to be double sure, take it to dealer after and ask them nicley to check it for u, most wont charge u just to check.

If you buy the miller tool from dodge, its a little more expensive and it measures in 10mm increments. 30mm cold, 50mm warm, 70 hot (operating temp)

When is that checked...with the engine running, in gear or park. I may need to look into one of these for myself. Thanks for the tip.
