Bilstein vs SRT

Ok, I know one makes the other but, which is a better strut. The OE SRT or the aftermarket Bilstein? The fitment would be on an 05 RT Magnum without Nivomats.

I want something that is slighly firmer than stock, but not much and takes out the rebound bounce that you get on the stock front RT struts.

Are the SRTs the same as the aftermarket Bilsteins only painted black?

My OEM's are blown out already(strut's), oil dripping down them and they bang like crazy over a little bump. But I don't want to change them yet because I think they lift better at the track lol! 27,000mi.

The SRT8 front Bilsteins are yellow. Also, the '08 (or '09?) and up SRT8 rears are Bilsteins, not Nivomats.

Jay, Might want to pm NotHers or he may chime in. He contacted Bilstein with the very same question. Their response apparently was that they were more "sports oriented than OEM". I have only the front replacement Bilstein shocks on my MSRT. Frankly, I don't notice that much difference if at all. Ymmv.

All model years of the SRT use the same Bilstein front shock (at least everyone I've seen and that's been several). But they recently changed from the rear self leveling nivo's to a standard Bilstein shock. I tried this combo on my ride. It's much more compliant than the Nivos by far. But losing the self leveling capabilities didn't work for me. Another thing to watch out for is that the new coils are a 9 count coil verses the older ones that were a 7 count. The coil is much softer up top but does firm up nicely and is more progressive then the original set up.

If I were to only load this ride normally (not 400lbs of crap in the back for the track) and not run it on the road courses, I would use the new set up.

I put a SRT setup with Novis on my R/T and it made a world of difference.

I highly recommend it.

The soft sofa ride is gone and the car handles so much better.

You can't beat the price.

Well, no, not exactly, but pretty close. I have the following installed:

F4-BE5-E476-HO Left front strut

F4-BE5-E477-HO Right front strut

These are bilstein aftermarket for lx models (RT and SRT). See my post above. Currently investigating suspension change to the new 08/09 Lx SRT which supposedly is more soft and progressive. BTW, I have front/rear strut (shock) factory numbers from 08/09 300 SRT if you want them.
