What's happening to my brakes ? (R1 rotors / Posi-Quiet pads)

At about 13k miles I got new R1 Concepts slotted / Premium-series front rotors installed, and Posi-Quiet pads all around
(rear rotors were recently replaced by the dealer at the time .... at about 11k)

Well, shortly after getting them done, they started squeaking, and now at 20-21k,
all 4 rotors are warped again and the pads are still squeaking like crazy on almost every stop.

A few days ago I noticed some troubling spots on my front rotor surface ...

cant say for sure but it looks like the pads are breaking apart and bedding them selves inthe rotor
not sure though from these pictures

Looks like some porosity in the casting to me. Where trapped air was sandwiched during the pour. Unless it gets really deep I don't think I'd loose and sleep over it.

If you want the 'warping' to stop read the info I posted the other day and change your driving habits. A rotor change won't fix this.

X2 looks just like casting porosity, especially in the first picture.

It's probably just that sparrow cam you got lighting them up :) Did you did the install yourself? I did my brakes last week and found a frozen rear brake, and a front frozen piston. I'm hoping the napa rotors/pads I put on hold up good.

No, I had one of the techs from work (Ford dealership) do the job at this house ... next time I'll most likely do it myself at a buddy's house ...


They're really starting to pulsate like crazy ... to the point that they're shuddering now .... no longer a soft pulsation ....

i had the same issue with a set of performance brakes once. The solution was to bed the brakes as soon as i put them on, and i bedded them in hard. My friends said i was crazy for doing it that way, but my off the shelf brakes from advance auto, stop better than some others performance setups. I did 8 60 to 10 stops on the tpk, drove 6 or so miles, did 8 more, drove 6 or so more miles and did 4 80 to 40 stops, breaking hard every time. It smoked, smelled and turned the rotor edges blue, but they stop like mad now, no warping, and no squealing. the blue has gone away since, and they look grey, and stop AWESOME. there are a lot of online articles about bedding in new or freshly cut rotors and pads. Im a full believer now. just remember NOT to STOP COMPLETELY until they have cooled basicly to the touch or you will F them up. Also do it at like 2 am, so there is no traffic or cops. its not illeagle, just will raise an eyebrow, and probably iniate a traffic stop.
