You need to put some weight on the nut. Let the diff down until it hangs on the bolt then loosen it.

toner ring's? If so you need those's, and there not sold seperatly.
Oh ****, T's right. Your talking about the toner rings. Welp, you need to remove your old one carefully and install on the new shaft. Hopefully it wasn't damaged when the shaft broke. But you car will work with only one, it'll just throw ABS codes.

You're putting in the 09 Mopar axles right? If so, both of the new ones should come with the tone ring already in place.

Worst case is a click on shifts to reverse, it's simply a noise problem. Note it won't fit on 1000 HP axles. I have heard nothing since my axle install without them, but make sure you get 157LB of torque with an accurate wrench.

i've seen a few with the rubber worn away and even some without the washer and none of them had any noise concerns.

Yep its that guy. When I took my old half shafts out, ONLY the drivers side had one. and the passenger side dident. Also with the 09 Shafts it dident fit as louse on it as it did on the stock shaft. Can I get them from the dealer?

If Fnky says they aren't absolutely necessary...
I'd believe him.

The axles go into the hubs first.Slide them into the hubs and put the axle nuts on so they don't slide. The get the pass side axle into the diff. The carefully get the drivers side in.......raise the diff and the axles will slide most of the way in.Then when the differential is bolted in finish pushing the axles in.

i've never had to replace axles but i've removed a few diffs. i always leave the axles in place and just drop the diff. i usually need to pry the diff to one side in order to get the second axle in. also, it makes it easier if the rear suspension is compressed.
EDIT: ^^ what H31 said. ^^

Yes this is the fun part of doing this.
Need to twist the diff little bit to get the second (Driver side ) axle in.
