Order a MOPAR P/N 04565022 switch.

Locate the connector behind the dash.Remove the glove box. Disconnect the cable on the left side by sliding the plastic fitting aft/down to the hole and pull the button end through the hole. Bend the stops on each side inward so they clear the back of the dash and swing the glove box down. Lift upward to disengage hinge from dash and remove glove box.

Feel for wiring harness running along upper aft edge on back side of dash and locate the branch for the light connector. Mine had the connector taped to the main harness with sticky foam tape. Pull the tape off to release the connector and pull it down to glove box opening. You may want to temporarily tape the connector to the back of the dash above the glove box opening.

The attached image shows dimensions for a hole template. I printed this full sized on an adhesive label. Orient your hole as shown or the switch housing will shield the bulb.

Cut the hole for the switch, connect to wiring harness, insert switch in hole, and enjoy.

You could just simply use the actual light/connector and trace around it, as a template.

I have the switch and found the loom/connector and I have the glove box out. I am now working on taking some pictures. But I was looking for an image of the final product or just a picture of the 300C's switch location, there is enough play that there are a lot of places it CAN go, I would prefer to get it exactly where it SHOULD be.

Many Thanks,

-Robert

OK here are the pictures I took while installing the glove box light.

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/box-release.jpg
Start here these tabs bend in and let the box come down a bit further to get access to the cable.

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/box-release2.jpg
The tabs bend in this far to clear the dash.

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/box-cable.jpg
Then remove the cable, its simple to undo

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/under_dash.jpg
With the glove box removed, lay on your back with a flash light and look up. You should see the black sticky foam pad, it's holding the plug against the harness.

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/plug1.jpg
Pull the plug down and you should have this :)

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/dash-templet.jpg
I made a sticker templet from what was posted a few post up.

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/dask-pad.jpg
I used a sharpy to trace the templet then used a razor knife to cut away the dash pad.

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/uni-bit.jpg
Drill a small pilot hole and use a uni-bit to open it up the the right size.

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/knife.jpg
I made an attempt to use a knife to cut the square edges of the hole out. The dash plastic won over the knife. I broke the handle. I ended up useing a dremel with a carbide burr bit and then cleaned up the edge with a knife.

http://www.robagd.com/cars/glove-box/switch-test.jpg
Testing the switch.

Bingo ! We have LIGHT !

I hope you all find this helpfull.

-Robert

Seems the templet has gone missing here is a copy : Templet for Switch (http://www.robagd.com/cars/misc/GLSwitch.jpg)

Basicly yes, the loom is the same in the 300's and they have the light Magnums dont.

Buy the $10 switch and do a little drilling and you now have a glove box light. You also have Autohead lamps if you have the dual zone climate controls.

Followed the directions. The cable had a tab on it so it doesn't just slide back and come off. But I got it. When it came to drilling the hole, we ended up drilling one in the middle and then smaller ones around the edges. We then used side cutters to go from hole to hole. We used files to smooth the edges and enlarge as needed. http://thumb8.webshots.com/t/51/151/5/71/98/2664571980081319028Qmzdln_th.jpg

I have the underhood light in already, I forget where I got the part numbers, it is a MoPar part. The wiring cable costs more than the light.
I got the info from one of the posts in the forum, forget just where.

Just installed mine yesterday and ended up over cutting the hole. The template kept printing to large. I got "roto-happy" and made it a little too large. I was able to fill it in and now its fine. The guys at the parts counter didnt even know that this could be done. Thanks for the mod.

I was thinking about the hood light tonight. I still can't believe a $30,000 car comes without little conveniences that have been around for decades, like hood light, glove box light, and hood struts. What the hell is DCX playing at?

The all-mighty $$$$$$. We'll see what happens when Cerberus takes over. I got the light assy. Only $7. Might do it this weekend.

Just put it in today. I traced around the switch and drilled a 1/2 hole, then cut the remaining hole with a hand saw.
A NOTE!!!- The switch doesn't snap in securely- it stays in but is loose. There is a bezel for it, Part # 68026783AA- I'll have to order it Monday.

Did some more trimming and the bezel was in and the light was in. You have to trim enough or the tabs on the bezel could break.

Just did the install on my 07 super bee. I had to do this install after seeing my girl friends 300 with it. Was an easy install and you definitely want to order part #68026783AA as it makes the light fit perfect and look factory clean. took me about 45 minutes from start to finish. Thanks to those that did this before me to make my job so much easier. I have to say I was a bit nervous cutting into my dash board lol.

Ok, I'll bite, what is 68026783AA ? It's not the switch itself, I though that was 04565022.

Edit: Nevermind, from your other post (http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1248268#post1248268) I found out that it is a plastic bezel for the light to snap into.

Got the switch and bezel to put into my baby ('08 Magnum SXT).

Took a look at everything to prepare myself for doing the mod in a couple weeks when I have some more time when I noticed there is already something cutout in my dash for something (right white box in pic). I know the switch should go in the area indicated with the white box in the left.

Anyone know what the cutout is for? I don't think the switch goes there 'cause the wiring won't reach (I don't think)

I haven't seen this in an 08-09 LX yet, but I think that is for an I-Pod jack, for radios without one. Wiring defientely won't reach.

The switch/light goes in the area of your first picture. The glovebox door has to compress the switch to turn the light off. The glovebox wire is stuck with tape up high. You have to bring it down. Mine reached on my 2005 no problem. I've not tried it on my 2008 yet.

EDIT: I have that same extra cutout in my dash too. I never noticed it before. Thanks!

I did a bit of recycling, I grabbed a light from a wrecked 300c among other goodies... a friend of mine from a local dealership told me about a guy he knew that had a wrecked 300 sitting in his tow yard. Hell not only that he had a '05 inferno red magnum rt from someone who didn't pick it up after a recovery. Looked good but the radio system was trashed...
